Dreams

I wish I could remember more of the dream I had last night. Unfortunately, working at 5:30 AM means very little between when I wake up (4:45 AM) and when I have to leave (5:00 AM) allowing little-to-no time for dilly dally. I remember the dream being a complete story, and about fantasy. The funny thing, is that the beginning of the dream was almost like a game; it was in isometric view. I remember walking onto four red circles, artfully arranged and guarded by four armor knights, who brandished their weapons threateningly as I approached. As my proximity to the squares increased, suddenly they sprang on me, swords flashing in the bright moonlight. One or two tricky maneuvers later, I dived for what I discovered to be a circle of red runes, and vanished into thin air, fading into blackness.

When I regained conciousness, I discovered myself to be in a strange place. The stone walls were withering, with old boxes piling high around--like some sort of medieval warehouse. I initially thought the place to be abandoned, and began running through the halls looking for the exit. My heart pounding, I turned a sharp corner, and...

*CRASH*

"What the devil are you doing here?"

My eyes registered a short young man, no older than 25. His hair was scraggly brown and his visage demonstrated traces of a mustache that hadn't quite grown in properly.

"Uhh....," I stammered, having lost my senses momentarily in the collision.
"There's no time for games! SHE is coming!"
"Excuse m-..."

but I trailed off--he had frozen over mid-sentence, and to my horror fell onto the floor with a sickening "thud." What looked like a jar of bread shattered on the ground, and impulsively I pocketed one. No sooner had I done this, however, when a young blonde witch (who ironically looked EXACTLY like one of my friends who could actually be reading this!) froze me in midair with a spell and bent over the corpse of the other.

"Hah! Fool! The entire stock has been destroyed!" she cackled. She turned to me:
"How do you know this man?"
"I don't; I swear!"
"A likely story...but no matter...my task in complete, the heartstones are destroyed."

She surveyed me.

"Now as for you...I shall take you to my master, where you are to be tortured. And then," she said with a forboding smile, "we will find out who you REALLY are and what you know."

She stared into the air with a giddy expression on her face--apparently the idea of torture having brought back fond memories.
With a swish, I found myself unfrozen.

"Now join the others, we have a long march up Mt. Malchant ahead of us."

This is all I remember clearly

But I have a vague recollection of:

* Befriending one of the slaves
* Her murdering said friend in a fury
* Being awed and entraced by her sheer force of will
* Eating part of the heartstone, thus protecting me from SOMETHING
* A final showdown with the SCARIEST VILLAN EVER

Like I said, I wish I remembered more of it more vividly. I blame work.
