So it's been quite some time since my last post. Luckily that's only because so much has been going on and I've been enjoying life outside of my computer.
For once, I'm overloaded at work and the strange thing is I'm loving it. I have been so busy at work that I have very little time for my favorite distractions on the world wide web. There's been lots of change at work, which my boss is constantly reminding me is a sign of progress and I have learned to just sit back, enjoy the ride of change and hope that it all works out.
My birthday party was an absolute blast! The band came together, well good enough at least, and where we failed... my sweet wonderful crush, Reid, stepped up and made everything better! He was such a wonderful friend that night, calming me down when I got stressed, helping me put things into perspective so I didn't blow a gasket and just making the entire week around my birthday such a wonderful time! He even dressed up for the occasion, unusually metro for his taste, but handsome as ever!
Then the next morning I was suppose to catch a plane to NYC to spend Thanksgiving week with my sister and I missed my flight! That's what I get for agreeing to a 6am flight the morning, more like mere hours, after my birthday blowout. So after waking up in a frenzy, I immediately dialed up American Airlines and after crying for what seemed like hours to the dear poor agent, I booked another flight. Now keep in mind that I set a $250 budget for this trip, allowing myself no more than $250 to spend while in NYC. Now, due to my recklessness, I had exceeded my budget by nearly double before I had even left Santa Barbara! Jeez-us help me! Nevertheless, I had a great time in NYC, shopping, hanging with Layne and even getting to hangout with my old college roommate, Jill and her boyfriend John. Great time had by all!
As soon as I got back though I was overloaded with work and music. But as I said before, it's a great feeling to actually be busy at work. To actually feel necessary. Reid got back on Monday and we had a great time together this week. We've really worked at balancing our time together and our time for other priorities. And music, it was great to be back to sing at Legends this Wednesday. And to top it off I worked out 4 days of this week. I love my new membership at 24 hour fitness.
This weekend was a blast as well.
Friday, Reid and I went on our first double date...barf, I know, but it wasn't a cheesy-like double date. This was just dinner with friends who happened to also be dating. Julie the bitch and David, her bitch...hahaha...just kidding. This was the first time I met Julie's new beau and I have to say it was love at first sight, even Reid agrees. I love this guy! And though I don't know much about him, I do know that he makes my friend Julie as happy as I've ever seen her and that alone makes him a winner in my book. After a great dinner at El Paseo, we met up with a few other friends at Palmieri's where Instant Love Mix was playing and really had a great time there too. Instant Love Mix invited me back up to sing with them and Julie, David, Esmeralda, Caleb, Alex and I danced our hearts out. Julie and David left earlier than we did and Alex ended up driving us over to Legends where we ended the night. Alex drove Reid and I back to my place and we later found out that Alex totaled his car on the way home, rear-ending a Mercedes on the off ramp to his house...ouch!
Saturday Reid and I joined up with Bobbo Broadus to watch Harry Potter 4. Great movie. Great company and great In-n-Out afterward. For dinner I went to Chase's 25th birthday dinner party and it was great to see her and meet her other friends and just have a nice adult dinner amongst friends. After dinner I headed straight for Tsunami's for Reid's show. This was another great night at the Tsu. Reid had a great show, he let me come up and sing (this was merely for the advantage of saying I was with the band so I could have an open tab all night...hehe....beat the system!). Then a bunch of us headed to, where else? Legends, of course! Great times again.
Then today, my sweet, sweet sabbath. We lounged. I did all my laundry and cleaned up my house a bit. Reid and I went downtown for some walking and talking. Chipotle for dinner, and just for shits and giggles we wandered into Urban Outfitters (but please don't tell his mother as she is in strong boycott against them and for legitimate reasons). I wanted to see, if per chance, they had the plug-in joystick 5-in-1 arcade games with Ms. PacMan and/or Mr. PacMan. We searched all over the place and just when we were about to call it quits, from the corner of my eye I see this mound of yellowness.
THANK YOU JEEZ-US! I have seen the light! There in all its glory were packages upon packages of the 5-in-1 Joystick arcade things. They had 3 versions.
1) The Atari version
2) A Ms. PacMan version
3) An Original PacMan version
So naturally, I bought the Original. and the Ms. PacMan versions. One for me. One for Reid. To the commoner, this may seem lame, but to those with a true eye for prestige and competition, this is a diamond in the rough.
We now have endless access to PacMan and Ms. PacMan and we're stoked.
The night ended with a short stop to the video store to rent, by Reid's choice, mind you, MEAN GIRLS! Then to Legends to support the local musician of the evening and then to Reid's house (begrudgingly, as I was so tired and didn't feel like driving that far, a whole 10 minutes out of the way...I realize now, I was being a baby...so sue me) for a dip in the hot tub, some chocolate chip cookies and, of course, Mean Girls!
Great movie! I had never seen it before. Some friends of mine once bought it for me for my birthday present last year, but decided to watch it first before they gave it and then lost it, so it was great to finally see it! And my sweet crush did something very sweet for me...
He made my lunch for tomorrow. It was a very sweet gesture on his part. Every now and then we meet at my house for lunch and I whip up some sandwiches and such and this time he returned the favor. It's not much to some perhaps but to me it was very sweet and thoughtful, reminding me again what a good balance we are for each other. We're appreciative of each other and I think that is so important.
One more bit of exciting news... My bestest friend, Virginia, will return from her European travels this Saturday! Ya-fucking-hooty! And though I won't see her until she's slept of the jet-lag and had some time at home to adjust and spend with her family, it will be great to know that she's only an hour away, in the same time-zone and soon to be heading up to SB to hang with me like old times! I cannot wait!
Anyway, I'm rambling, mostly because I haven't posted in so long and also (mostly) because it's late and I'm trying to bide my time while I wait to get tired. Please fatigue, come now!
So...
Peace, Love and Slumber!
