As already written about by me
here and
here, an article on
nme.com finally revealed some more concrete details about the new release(s) of Sigur Rós:
Sigur Ros to release concert movie
They tell NME.COM there's a 'new' album as well
July 30
Sigur Ros are to release a concert film shot in their native Iceland last summer.
'Heima', out on November 5, was filmed in various locations, and features some of the band's biggest and smallest shows of their career.
Drummer Orri Páll Dýrason told NME.COM: "It was good to film it in our home country, sometimes we were playing these big show and then we were playing in those really small fields, which was beautiful. It was fun doing those, shows, especially in front of our friends. Really nice."
A trailer for the film can be seen
here (windows) or
here (quick time).
On the same day a compilation album, titled 'Hvarf-Heim', will also be released. Split into two sections, the first, 'Hvarf', features three unreleased tracks from the band's works, and a fourth, 'Von', which is a radically reworked track from the band's first album.
Dýrason said: "We are having a clear out, really! One of the songs even dates back to 1994! We picked the ones we really like. It's not like a normal album. There are a lot of good songs on there, but they didn't fit when it came to putting the albums together."
--> The tracklisting for HVARF is:
'Salka'
'Hljomalind'
'I Gaer'
'Von'
'Heim' is made up of six acoustic versions of songs taken from Sigur Ros' four studio albums to date.
--> The tracklisting for HEIM is:
'Samskeyti'
'Staralfur'
'Vaka'
'Agaetis Byrjun'
'Heysatan'
'Von'

I'm excited although I hoped for a DVD release of their Reykjavik concert which was also broadcasted back then. Anyway everything Live-DVD wise is great. And the trailer looks/SOUNDS great - is this the actual studio version of "Lagid I Gaer" ?! WOW!...I want to move to Iceland.
About the 'new album' I am über-excited ;) ... - although I'm a bit sad that the album didn't turn out as previously stated, sort of at least: Too bad they didn't choose "Rokklagid" for "Hvarf"...Mh, what confuses me a bit though is that they write on
sigur-ros.co.uk that the songs on "Hvarf" would all be live favourites: "Salka" and "Von" are obviously known, but the other two are rather unknown to me. I just can guess that "I Gaer" is "Lagid I Gaer". But I never came across a tune entitled "Hljomalind" I think O_o. Must be a song from the early 90s then ?? But...then again, well, maybe that song is "Rokklagid" in the end because in those news released earlier this year, the song was mentioned together with "Lagid I Gaer" and the other ones. So it might be that only the song title got changed/is the proper one but the 'content' remained the same. Oh *geez*, I'm so bouncy by the thought of it...
The reworked version of "Von" sounds soooooo promising, too. I hope they reworked it according to the live version they use to play at concerts, so the result will be something as tremendous as their 2005 studio version of "Hafssól". Awesome. Maybe it's even this mad long (14:22 mins) version from Madrid 2003...*dreams*.
As for "Heim" I am really more than excited :). Especially for "Staralfur" and "Samskeyti"!!!!
