Do you remember the time...

I've been a long time fan of Michael Jackson, especially from 1992 to 1998, and then from 2003 on again. But somehow...in the last couple of months, my 'faith' into Mike concerning his music, and his approaches and what he stands (stood) for, got cracked in a way (same for Alanis Morissette, but not as much).
These days I've developed a rather sceptical view on him, I can't fight this feeling...but I for example cannot comprehend some fans' mad and unconditional(=BLIND imo) love for him. He's the best, he's the king, he's the greatest no matter what he does or does not. *D'oh*.
Frankly, I'm not in the mood to explain this in more detail.
However....I feel kind of betrayed by him, and feel more like that U2 are the real ones, being what Michael stands/stood for with his entitlements regarding social engagement and greatness in music (especially the messages of songs). After all it seems that he's just another Pop musician with occasional social/political topics. Good for entertainment and stuff, but not really taking a stand 'outside' the music (anymore). And well, such things are important to me if a musician lets himself be celerated as a philanthropist by fans - like Michael prolly enjoys himself seen as.
But then again from an 'objective' point of view this of course is only my opinion and not a fact I shall talk to others (especially MJ-Fans ;) into believing this; To each his own...I at least am losing the connection my admiration was based upon. The music's still awesome, but that's it.

Anyhow there's still a connection with him as a human being, he must be a tremendous person from what I've seen.

So well, let's see what Mike is up to with his future music and co...maybe I'll find my way back to him like I did in 2003.

mj, music-blah
