Part five. Didn't realise we'd got that far (well, far for me.) Or I can't count, but discovering that on the eve of your final maths exam is not a pleasant thought so I shan't think of it *g* (my brain had already imploded once this week. Archie&Thorongil - the thought terrifies me :P)

Well I think it's five. Frightening, innit?

Archie&Thorongil - the thought terrifies me
So I'm sorting the washing this morning and there's Archie in my brain, lying in a bed in Dol Amrioth and wondering whether it's Spain.....

I love your brain. I am absolutely grinning like an idiot over here. The Bay of Belfalas, a random bay in Spain, there's no difference *g*

I had quite an idiot grin when I was doing the washing!

Well, if that boat that Archie got cut loose in was to drift through a certain notorious hole in the space time continuum, or did a reverse of the elven boats sailing over the edge of the world (or something) he might end up in Middle Earth, might he not? And he'd see the white buildings and the clear blue sky and assume it was Spain?

It's interesting, but in this chapter, we see two ways the relationship could be ended: by one or the other leaving. It would be interesting to see what happens next. Wonderfully written and I'm looking forward to the rest.

Yes - especially when the assumption has sort of been that it would be Lee - either sacked by Warne or sucked back to his own time.

It would be interesting to see what happens next
Indeed - not sure we know - we just rely on the boys to lead us.

Thanks for the lovely words. Such a pal.

*nods* Yes, but the idea that the peace could end adds a new dimension.

*giggle* It's always up to the characters.

Not a problem! I try to leave a note for you both.

Yeah, like mylodon said, Lee has always been the one who would leave (and I suppose he has quite a right to) but if it was H leaving it would be a lot more depressing :)

It would be interesting to see what happens next
I definitely don't know! I suspect only H&L know and they're currently closeted away in one or other of their cabins and won't be available for quizzing until they've set sail again *g*

Thanks for the comment!

Delightful and convoluted as usual--and I'm not entirely sure if I mean the thought processes of the authors or the actions of the characters, but it's a compliment both ways. *grin* As has been said above me here, the two of you do seem to write very well together, and the result is fabulous for all the rest of us who get to read it.

Particularly enjoyed the part where Horatio was so excited about winning a verbal duel--very cute! And his can't-help-it grin at the idea of the peace ending is so very canon, as well. No matter what or who he leaves behind, he's always itching to get back to where he really belongs. I think that question of personal and professional loyalty runs through a lot of the Hornblower universe, in fact, and you've got a very interesting quandary set up here. Can't wait to see where the boys carry you off to next!

Thank a lot!!!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the boys are slightly more delightful than our ramblings but I agree about everything being convoluted *g* Even I don't know what's going on half the time!

And no idea how the quandary is going to be resolved...I think I wrote that bit just after my final english exam and had Anthony and Cleopatra on the brain - hope this doesn't end the same way *grin* Nah, but I do hope that their relationship is unique enough to withstand anything they throw at it.

Thank you so very much!

Convoluted would describe not just our thought processes and the story but would also cover our asides with which we pepper the draft of this tale.

No matter what or who he leaves behind, he's always itching to get back to where he really belongs.
That reminds me of Jack Aubrey, too. That's such a perceptive comment - could apply to both of them here, but poor Lee seems stuck unless serendipity strikes again.

Particularly enjoyed the part where Horatio was so excited about winning a verbal duel
Couldn't you just imagine his face - like a seven year old who's got a sum right. (One of calavarna's bits there.)

Dun DUN! I'm finally caught up... Just in time for the cliff-hanger. But it was definitely worth it, if only for the shmoopy scene between Lee and Horatio, where Horatio channeled Zarek and made some Greek mythology reflections.
I'm still waiting for my robot pirates, but no pressure. :]

The funny thing is that I wrote that bit - and I'm the one who doesn't watch BSG (well I've seen about one and a half). *g*

If you really want a story about a robot pirate I can e-mail you a really stunning one!

Merci

I had the same thought when mylodon wrote that bit, but I'd forgotten Zarek's name so I didn't say anything :) I knew his name wasn't zoloft...
