APH: You're Home Late. -Part 2/5 ((SwedenxFinland, Estonia (kinda), Hanatamago is always around~))

Apr 11, 2010 00:36

It was not the best way to wake up. The sun had come up, as silently as always, refusing to wake Tino in time for his morning meeting. In fact, it wasn't the alarm that he'd set going off in the bedroom upstairs that woke him, either. It wasn't the sound of the door shutting a few hours later or the cramp in his back from the kitchen chair that woke him. It was the sudden closing up of his throat due to something thick and furry being shoved into his face.

"PFFT- Ha-Hanatamago!" Tino sputtered for breath, sitting up with a start. The white ball-of-fluff dog had decided to perch itself on the nation's head, practically smothering him as he slept. Hanatamago now hopped onto the table and gave an innocent yap. As Tino tried desperately to rub the rest of the offending fur from his nose, his groggy eyes settled on the bright new day outside the window. It looked like it was long past feeding time for his small friend. "I'm sorry..." Tino mumbled. "I must have overslept..." He pushed out from the table and stood up with some difficulty, all of the joints in his body cracking in protest. Hanatamago bounced down onto the tiled floor, racing around and wagging his tuft of tail in impatience. Tino smiled sleepily.

It was always so pleasantly warm in the kitchen... Why was he in the kitchen, anyway? Oh right... cooking for Su-San. He must have fallen asleep after that. The blonde's half-closed purple eyes drifted lazily over to the empty chair. No Sweden. He must have already left for the office... Tino was about to sigh when a sudden realization struck him.
"I overslept!"

A mad scurrying ensued as the sleep-deprived nation tried to gather up his files, change out of his pajamas, find his hat... Hoping it would help his uncooperative brain, Tino decided halfway out the door to run back to the kitchen and grab a morning cup of coffee. Remembering Hanatamago, a very frantic Finland tucked his shoes and briefcase under his left arm, gripped the coffee cup between his teeth, shoveled some dog food into a bowl with his free hand, then raced outside to his car. Remembering his pants, a very embarrassed Finland drove back to the house a half hour later to put them on, tripping down the hallways in a panic as he did so.

It was an extremely slow day at the office, which didn't help matters. After being chastised by his boss for being over 5 hours late, there really wasn't much for Tino to do except bang his head against the desk in the occasional attempt to wake himself up. Not good... he hadn't even had time for his morning sauna.

At lunchtime, he found himself staring at the phone with increasing depression. Berwald always called him during his lunch break. Maybe the taller man never said much over the phone, but he always called during lunch. After waiting fifteen more minutes Tino picked up the phone, his fingers hovering over the numbers, but before he could dial anything he lost his nerve. He dropped the phone back onto the receiver, his head back onto the desk. Berwald was probably just too busy to call. If that was the case, he probably couldn't afford to be bothered...

After wasting the rest of his break time on a phone call with a very polite but brief Estonia ("I really do need to find Raivis- he's having another breakdown-") and sketching absentminded Hanatamago-doodles onto his arm with a fountain pen, Tino was interrupted by a summons from his boss. He then spent a good amount of time bashfully greeting some important people whose names seemed to escape him only moments later, and then he was on his way home again at last, feeling like he had accomplished very little.

"I guess it's time to wait for Su-san again..." he told a mischievous Hanatamago, who greeted him enthusiastically at the door for the upteenth time that day.
