date with God #1

i went on a date with God yesterday
we walked around Raffles Place, Clarke Quay and City Hall. we sat on a bench along the Singapore River while i chewed on a local ice-cream sandwich <3 mint chocolate chip! i successfully distracted myself with the memory of food omg.
looking across the river, He asked me what i saw.
"shophouses, duhh. i love shophouses, they're so cosy and quaint ((: "
"i see bloodshed"
-stops in mid-bite-
"BLOODSHED? are you kidding?! o.0"

where we see success and civilization, He sees the pain and bloodshed that came before it.
He sees His children trampling over each other to build an empire that will crumble away, He sees His children breaking their back for people (in the future) they dont even know, while ignoring the pain and suffering of the people they know around them.

we walked by the Asian Civilization Museum and saw the statues on the steps; statues of three people trading with each other. two of them were measuring the weight of the goods that they were gonna sell.
i was all like.. cool! how clever. see how far we've come
but, where we see growth through the development of measurements and weighing scales, He sees the marginalizing of people He loves and should be loved by those around them too.
we build ladders to climb, forgetting that that means someone will be left at the bottom. He sees the ladders that scale high up to Nothing, and cries as His children push each other off in their bid to reach the top, only to be disappointed with what they find. His heart aches when only He takes time to peer right to the bottom of the ladder to see the lonely souls that have been left behind.
sometimes, we, His children, remember those we have left behind in our bid to get ahead, and we go back down to help them up, but only if they give us something in return - their lives, their children, money, gratitude, culture...

helping others, He told me, is not something EXTRA that we do. it's something we're SUPPOSED to do. it's like the opposite of CIP. haha you dont ADD points coz you help others, but you minus points every day that you dont, every second that you dont love people around you. it's about people, not about less-fortunate-people, just people. He created us all equal, and look what we've done to that?

-flash back of s216A Companies Act minority shareholder protection =S-

yea, what have we done?!
