here the driving age is 18.

i still think that it's too young. people that age are still way too irresponsible and immature to be driving. 21 is a much more suitable age in my opinion. i can't imagine the kind of drivers you have over there, at 16 years of age. it's absurd.

but kids like that dont suddenly start acting ok when they turn 18 or 21

i think it's safe to say that this kid should just... well... die

agreed.

and if he keeps driving the way he does it probably won't take long.

(not that I would EVER wish a fatal car wreck on anyone)

its funny.
when i took the Basic Driver Improvement class with my dad as the teacher, he took a survey.
he had the whole class rate their own driving skills. 1 being a horrible driver and 10 being an excellent driver. and 98% of the class voted themselves 8 and up.
Now isn't that something?! A whole classroom of people (ranging from the age of 16-their 50's and 60s) who are all there due to driving mishaps of their fault, and they all think they're decent drivers? what's wrong with us?!

everyone thinks they are a good driver.

I don't think I'm a good driver. hoping4despair November 5 2003, 02:32:55 UTC
haha.
I'm doing the waiver thing Thursday actually.
but I will not be allowed to drive alone until I can prove to my dad the car is safe [noticed how I didn't say "I". heh]. Anyway, I think thats reasonable enough to ensure the safety of other drivers. He's been to driving school twice...and is anal to me about knowing if I know how to drive. =\

holla for waivers because I doubt I would have been able to pass a road test when I was 16.

well, i'm sure the kid knows how to drive.
it's just a matter of being responsible, which is not limited to young drivers.

I took the road test, passed with flying colors, and still got in a wreck that was my fault.

Go me.

i, erin elyse jeffreys, have done MANY stupid things while operating a motor vehicle....
-totalled my integra 2 months after i bought it
-had multiple high dollar speeding tickets - which i can't get anymore of
-hit and run on a crazy redneck's trash can
-went on a rage in rocky bayou hitting recycling bins with truck
-off roading in a 2 wheel drive truck and getting stuck, paying 70 dollars at 11pm to get pulled out by hangin with mr. cooper
-more speeding tickets

i think ive learned though... i havent done anything stupid with my new car...that would be dumb...i dont really speed anymore either - i cant afford to though. but yeah everyone just has to learn...the hard way...sometimes that means death (sorry i had to be dramatic) but i mean dude, it could happen. it sucks...cars are deadly weapons. gotta have consciousness and know how to use it

ohh yeah, and I totally agree, I've done stupid immature things behind the wheel to. At 16 I was no where near responsible enough to drive on my own, but, like you, luckily, I have matured in that respect.
