Just saw Silent Hill last night. I have to say that it was easily the best video game based movie to date. It was everything I would have hoped for in an adaptation. Plenty of references to the game with enough of a difference to make it original. Yet I do still see fans of the game say say it was horrible, and I think I know why.
Said fans seem to never be happy with an adaptation unless it is a carbon copy of the game it's based after. I, personally, think the movie wouldn't be as good if it was exactly the same as the game. It's why I think that the Resident Evil movies were good, because they weren't carbon copies of the game but had references to please the fans of the game.
If you've never played the Silent Hill games and didn't like movie, I can understand. If you have played them and didn't like it, then you probably fall into the category of people I just mentioned.
