I could say that I forgot I had one of these, but then that would just be an excuse for being too lazy to update.

Just coming off my vacation. One full week of doing mostly nothing, and it was fantastic. Just hung out with friends, my buddy Xav from WPI, and my girl Kimic for a full 4 or so days at my place (which is the longest she has spent in my house). Watching movies, playing video games, fucking around on the computer, that kinda stuff. And it was great.

Working on getting prepared for school. Have to get my Algebra I & II transcripts from my high school tomorrow, get a couple letters of recommendation from my teachers, work on financial aid and look for some housing and I'll be all set. Going to take classes on video game design and development and work my way into the industry. I've been playing games since I was 9 and my interest in games has never swayed, so this would seem to be the obvious career choice for me.

Living away from home is gonna be interesting. I've done it before, sort of. I rented out a room from a friend's mom for 3 months. $400 a month. Included utilities, cable internet, tv, free use of the bathrooms and the refrigerator. Unfortunately, I was making $8.25 per hour and only working part time (less than 25 hours a week). I had to keep my spending to a minimum and practically ration off my food. $25 for food over a 2 week period which consisted of 7 Celest Pizzas, 1 12-case of pepsi, 2 boxes of cereal, and 7 bottles of flavored carbonated water. Sometimes I had less than 7 pizzas since another friend of mine worked at the Stop & Shop. I'd occasionally open the freezer and find one pizza missing, but 75 cents sitting on top of the others. Amusing, yes, but it was somewhat annoying.

I'm full time right now, but will have to go back to part time when school starts. Shouldn't be too bad since Kimic is coming with me. I just have this feeling that everything will be great once we get down there. I will have to curb my spending habits, but given all the homework I'll have, that shouldn't be too hard (I hope).

However, being a New Englander, the weather is gonna fuck with me. It's going to be nothing but sunny and warm. It's not the heat or the humidity, it's the consistency. Seeing snow in June isn't new to me. And I'm always prepared for a heat wave in January. Not 2 months ago, I actually heard thunder and saw lightning and snow together. To anyone else, it's unheard of, but to a New Englander, it's predictable. It's going to be very strange, indeed.

As for housing, my father seems to be more interested in buying a condo than renting an apartment. It would be cool, get a condo and rent out the rooms to friends. That is, if I could get any of them to come with me. I guess it would depend on how big the condo is.

Furniture is gonna be another problem. I can only really take what will fit in some suit cases and in a car. Everything else I'll have to buy when I get there. I'd really prefer to take a U-Haul, but it would cost about $1000 to cart everything down there. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.
