Melanie the TV lady says my favorite new show of the season, Ugly Betty, is hip and happenin' with 16 million+ other viewers in America, and has been picked up for the full season, yay!
Other good news:
Heroes picked up for the full season, and though admittedly I don't find it as entertaining as Betty I do find it compelling in that cliffhanger "whyyyy do I have to wait until next week" way.
I laugh at the CW, for being stupid enough to believe that reviving 7th Heaven from the dead and pairing it with Runaway would give them a strong Monday lineup, rather than rightfully placing our beloved Everwood in that slot. I remember back when this ruckus was being announced, there were so many angry folks over on the TV Guide boards claiming to boycott the CW and in particular, refrain from giving new show Runaway a chance. I don't know if they made a noticeable impact, but there's definitely a lack of viewers.
Friday Night Lights I enjoy and hope will stick around. Sadly, even I don't watch it on TV because it competes with Gilmore Girls.
Had I not gotten sucked into the world of Studio 60, I'd also be laughing at how horribly it's doing. The first episode totally seemed like The West Wing repackaged with different actors and a different environment, and I didn't even watch TWW and could pick this out. I'm amused someone else noticed this too. Sad to say though, I do like Studio 60 now that I've gotten attached to the story but I won't miss it terribly if it goes.
In other TV news...
- I gave Twenty Good Years a try, and I surprisingly liked it. A lot. I saw quite a few bad reviews and was expecting the worst, but the combination of John Lithgow and Jeffrey Tambor just begged for my viewership. I have to agree with Melanie, it's truly J&J carrying this show thus far - the writing leaves a lot to be desired. What a dynamic and powerful presence these two actors have together, though. Quite amazing.
