What an awesome night of TV!
How I Met Your Mother
Funniest episode of the season so far, maybe even funniest of the series. Lily moves in with Barney and a "relationship" ensues. There were so many good lines, too bad I didn't tape this ep so I could transcribe them all.
Funny moments:
- "Rule #1: Don't change anything." Breakfast, coffee? Barney dumps it all out. Those, he says, are the signs of a relationship.
- The intentional bachelor's apartment tour: the bed with the single pillow, the single towel in the bathroom and lack of hairdryer, and the pornographic hallway bookcase, plus the life-size storm trooper.
- Marshall's relationship with his "bro"
Things that aren't funny: The Class. What a lame show. I'm glad I never watched it save for the ten minutes tonight. I think I'm going to place my bets on it on
Deathwatch.
Heroes
This show just keeps getting better and better! The suspense is killing me. I'm constantly wondering what the long-term direction of this show is, whether the characters we've met are destined to become superheroes, and have the focus of the show center around their heroic adventures? Right now it's interesting because everyone is figuring out who they are, and it's a much different dynamic than it would have if it became a superhero show.
Questions:
- Is Micah supposed to be a "hero" or is he just a boy genius of the normal variety?
- Senator guy (Alex?): something is up with him. He definitely knows about his powers and has used them in the past, but why does he want to mislead his brother?
- Why won't Mohinder take Peter seriously?
- What happened in the elevator with Niki? Did her alter ego switch places with her real self? If so, where did her real self go? In a mirror?
- Could DL be the one working with Claire's dad? And what's the deal with his powers? Does anyone suspect that DL is Skylar?
- What does Claire's dad want with all these mutant folks?
- If Hiro stopped time where Peter was.. does it mean that DL kidnapping Alex happened prior to that? Or is DL somehow immune to it?
- And, why wouldn't Claire's dad want Niki in addition to Alex?
Notable:
- "I am from the future" - my favorite scene of the episode! Hahahaha. The "I am from the future" scenes in TV shows and movies are always so cheesy. This one wasn't, but I so wanted it to be.
- Creepy surveillance cameras in the hotel room. It took me a few hours to figure out why it was such a big deal for Niki to "honor her agreement" - the cameras were there to blackmail Alex. That's why there was that big long speech about how he loved his wife and his children, and how he wasn't going to be beholden to the mob guy anymore.
- Claire taking revenge on the QB. WOW! What guts. That was a really spectacularly bold move. At first I didn't think she was going to do it.. I bet you the guy lives though, and only barely enough to finger Claire as one who tried to kill him.
- Opening scene with Claire on the autopsy table.. gross!!! Ewwwwww.
One thing that really bugs me about this show is that it opens with a line like, "people from all over the world" but in all seriousness - it's just one guy from Japan, and a bunch of people in the U.S. I hate these kinds of proclamations. I hope there are more people from other regions in future episodes. And I don't think Mohinder qualifies b/c he's not technically one of the "heroes."
Studio 60
I'm liking this Vogue lady (whose name escapes me) and her nosiness. I loved hearing Harriet's story, and how Danny found her and not Matt.
Matt "breaking" trying to impress Harrie.
Nicolas Cage Couples Counseling, hahahaha.
Jordan again showing she's got some real guts, and Ed Asner's character giving her the green light. Glad she didn't pick up the junky show, but in all honestly, I'd probably watch it if it was on TV for real, hahaha.
Danny and his "street cred."
Matt and Harrie end scene, with Sting's "it reminded me of someone" song. The second he started playing it, I knew it would be "the scene." I also figured it would be inconclusive, as TV often goes.
Tomorrow! New GG, VM, and BL! A night of terrific TV. Please don't disappoint me! Monday has set high expectations.
Actually, this week!
Tues: GG, VM, BL, Friday Night Lights (FNL)
Wed: 20 Good Years (20GY), Ugly Betty (UB), PR finale!, Top Chef premiere!, ANTM
Thurs: Earl, Office, Smallville, Grey's, plus one other show I think
I'll get around to talking about B&S one of these days. Greg Berlanti is working Everwood wonders on this show. Sunday's ep was sensational, and I missed the previous one :( In fact, I'm missing a lot of shows, oy. Got to catch up on Smallville, FNL.
