Um, I would seriously suggest avoiding the railings on the second floor stair case. I'm pretty certain that there's some caladium growing there -they're the big red leaves with the green border along the edges. Pretty sure, but not fun to touch. They're sort of...completely poisonous.

Not 'die die my darling' poisonous, more like 'swell up like a Violet B.' sort of deal. Unless you lick them -which is just stupid.

The two forms most widely cultivated are called "fancy-leaved" and "lance-leaved". The former is the more commonly seen and is the traditional caladium of cultivation; the leaves are more heart-shaped. The latter has more lance-head-shaped leaves. Most caladiums in cultivation grow to about 24 inches high and 24 inches wide, although dwarf varieties are now in cultivation.

These are definitely "fancy-leaved". I wish I had a working lab.
