am i a grown-up yet?

if food can be a measure of maturity, i think i'm officially a big kid now. For some bizarre reason I am no longer able to eat massive amounts of candy, i stopped drinking soda, and artificial strawberry flavoring is no longer a staple in my diet (aren't you proud, Christine?). I mean obviously, i still like candy, i just can't eat as much. I made this realization about my taste maturity when I had to stop drinking a margarita because it was too sweet. yeah, you know it's a problem when sugar is undermining your alcohol experience. anyway, just thought i should share.

so what i really wanted to tell you, is that my participation in the food blog has officially started, and you can read it. if anyone actually tries to make any recipes i post, could you please leave a comment either here or there about what needs improvements, if you are at all inclined to try and make the recipes i post, if recipes made sense, or any other constructive criticism? thaaaanks.

lastly, i am going to a friend's wedding this weekend. it's weird, because we went to high school together, and i have never attended a wedding for anyone other than family members or (older) family friends, or friends' family members. i'm kind of nervous! also, i didn't invite matt, though there was a space for adding guests on the invitation. maybe i should have? one time i sent him a link from a cakewrecks tweet about wedding cakes with messages written in computer programming....because i thought he would appreciate the programming part...and i think it upset him. but there was no subliminal messages being sent there, honest! i'm not ready to get married. but also i was thinking that it might be rude to invite extra people to the wedding because extra people cost extra money and weddings are expensive. i'm really not clear on the etiquette. advice, anyone? but in more positive news, i went to buy a wedding present today and i am happy to say that, despite the much picked-over registry, i managed to purchase my favoritest cookbook, How to Cook Everything, by Mark Bittman (it's great!! go get it. you won't regret it) AND an ice cream scoop. The ice cream scoop holds special meaning because when I worked at Amy's, my friend who is getting married gave me an ice cream scoop as a joke because i complained about scooping ice cream so much. anyway. i thought it was funny that i'd give one to her. irony!
