When I was a child, I was very thin, no, I was scrawny and underweight; I have been asthmatic since I was a baby. As I got older, I was still skinny and even after I had my children, my weight went back to 110-120 lb(50-55Kg). I put on a bit of weight when I worked in an office close to public transport, so I didn't walk much. I was a bit over-weight, but not too bad. Then I went on to very high doses of cortisone for my asthma. The first week, I was on the supposed maximum dose, and then my doctor doubled it. After six months, my asthma was under control, and we slowly reduced the cortisone, but by then, I had put on 50Kg (110lb) (which is an awful lot of excess!)
Over time, I've lost a little bit of weight, but not a lot-it goes up and down based on seasons, how busy I am, how much medication I'm taking and my hormones.
Eight weeks ago, I went on a serious weight loss diet. It's very low calorie, virtually no carbs, and meal substitues twice a day to make up for the carbs, fat, vitamins and minerals which I don't eat in my small serve of protein, two pieces of fruit two litres of water and seemingly endless amounts of low GI vegetables. I often get an attack of the munchies mid afternoon, but I have survived so far (thank goodness for herbal tea). I am working out once or twice per week at a local gym, which always makes me feel better too. As at 2 pm today (exactly 8 weeks after I started) I have lost 11.4 Kg (a bit over 25lb) and 12 cm (5") off my waist.
My total target weight loss is 45Kg. I promised myself I wouldn't tell everyone until I made it to 10Kg (22lb), and I won't post again until I reach 20Kg. But I am feeling very happy with myself, not to mention much thinner, and I just thought I should share. And I love having to throw out my old clothes because they are falling off me.
