I haven't posted since the children were here, and they are coming again next weekend, so I should post while I have the chance.
The main difficulty with them is that we can't get them awake at the same time for long enough to go anywhere or do anything. Josh (nearly 3) says he wants to have a nap, but he really only wants to get a bottle of milk. By the time he has finished that, and is asking to get up, Jordan (aged 17 months) is asleep. By the time Jordan wakes up, Josh is finally asleep. And then they are both awake, but it's too late to go out. So our weekends are totally uneventful, but they seem to enjoy themselves, and their mother gets to rest and relax a bit, so it's worthwhile. It's just that it would be nice to DO something!
On a less happy note, I am so concerned about my friend Bev. I've known her for several years, but since I started working at the church, we've got much closer, because she is our Parish Treasurer and is in and out of my office several times a week. She has suffered from depression for some years. Her GP has been happy to prescribe anti-depressants, but not to deal with the side effects which have been debilitating. As she has just turned 50, she is also coping with some extra age-related hormonal aspects of her disease. The past couple of months have been terrible for her, and so last week, she finally saw a clinic which specialises in women's health. They have her on some hormonal tablets and cream, but today she came in to the office, and had to ring her husband to come and pick her up. It is so heart-breaking to see a friend struck down by this. She knows logically that she has a good life, but when these black clouds come on her, she can't stop crying. And although she is a highly intelligent professional woman (she is an accountant), she just cannot function.
I'm not asking for answers, I'm not expecting any sort of help on this (I'm upset for her, but I'm not the one who needs help), it's just the thing on my mind today
Thanks for reading all, sleep well (I stole that idea from Ben!)
