Ed and Hank, 6th update

Wherever yer goin' 'm goin' yer way...

Ed and Hank will probably be back towards the end of summer… if Ed does anything. (Beyond the usual, that is.) And Hank might be able to send brief updates and/or postcards every now and again since Iris gave them her old laptop.

*A whole lotta thanks to everyone who has been reading and ( Read more... )

Just wanted to say that I read all of Ed and Hank through a few weeks ago, in two sittings, and I enjoyed it a lot. It has an odd connection to Brokeback Mountain fandom, that is for sure, and it took a while for me to wrap my brain around it. Once I stopped trying to make connections with Ennis and Jack, and read it just because I was enjoying spending the time with Ed and Hank, I was able to enjoy it for what it is. There is an immense amount of cleverness in the way this story is constructed, and I feel so fond not only of Ed and Hank (long may they travel!) but of you, the author, as well. Thank you so much for conveying this world to us. Uh, tell Hank thanks, too! Have a good summer, and I surely do hope to see more updates. That is, if Ed does anything worth writing about....
Love,
Jenna

Two sittings?!? That was some Ed and Hank marathon. :D
So glad you enjoyed it though. Thanks! I must admit I have a good time hanging out with Ed and Hank too. And Hank is definitely hoping for more updates as well. (Ed not so much.)

I agree with Jenna, I think your story is so creative. I have loved the postcards, the interludes the wonderful visuals and Ed's bitching and moaning.

I do hope you will continue to update this as you can

Linda :-)

Thanks! And thanks for all your comments. And I do have faith that Ed will do something this summer that Hank can write about later. No matter how hard he tries not to :)

Heya!

I got a little behind in the reading (I actually spent a couple of days the past week or so doing my JOB! Gotta spruce up the place for the new pastor, ya know?); hope Iris had a good trip home that didn't involve driving through or flying over Kansas! *Shudders*

I think I figured it out... Hank is taking Ed to Area 51?

Later, 'Cousin'!

Hey Cousin,

You are good! Ed and Hank aren't heading to Area 51, but those pictures weren't taken all that far from it - About 45 miles away from the 'Extraterrestrial Highway' at the closest point. Sorry... they aren't going to the beautiful resort town of Tonopah, NV either :( (At least as far as I know)

Iris did have a good trip home and it did not involve passing through or over the great state of Kansas. (Hank never actually wrote about her leave-taking.) :)

Happy sprucing!

Thought they would like that song : -) anonymous May 16 2007, 19:39:39 UTC
Glad they're finally takin that road trip. Lots of interestin rocks, and rock art, and good places to eat that ain't irradiated an have mighty fine pie. Not to mention wild blue skies and beautiful sunsets and a blanket made of stars. Foam pads aren't a bad idea either, even if they don't sound as romantic. It's how you inaugurate em that counts--well, and how much you enjoy bein on em after that ( ... )

Hey Joan,

Hanks glad they're finally taking that road trip too. He was itchin' ta get outta town.

Shhhh... don't tell anyone, but Ed and Hank forced me to put that stuff about them being made up in my epitaph. So don't believe them for a minute.

But seriously, you do have such a beautiful way with words: "Cause they're alive in my heart, an yours, an we all know that love is what gives all of us life and shows us our real selves."

I have looked forward to your comments all along. Thanks!

Sincerely,
Dumbass

P.S. Be careful about offering pie... with that kind of enticement who knows who could show up at your door.

'Blue,

I do not know how to say this to you.
So I'll just say it.

I am not Anonymous.

But I'd like to know who is. It does sound like me, so it has to be a great person! Anonymous, you there? Log in and let us know who my twin is!

'Blue, anybody could make that mistake- no worries. I'm on vacation in Oklahoma and didn't get to log in and read til tonight. So it weren't me tellin ya how much I liked the update.

But I did.

More later, and that was a really sweet thing you said 'bout my comments. Tell Hank I'm looking out for interesting rock formations for him.

LOL! I just turned Ed's third shade a red.

I really thought that was you! East coast, pie, and such a way with words.

Okay, now I think I know who it is... 'Cause of the song reference. And she has an amazing way with words too. But I'm not saying anything until I know for sure this time... Make an idiot of myself once, shame on me... Twice shame on me too. :D

Hope you're enjoying your vacation in Oklahoma!

Sincerely,
Dumbass

First of all, I *do* trust you, and Ed, and Hank, are really meaning business with that "new beginning" stuff and you're not planning to dump *us*... Not forever, at least =)
Then, Edthedog and Hankthedog have a lot in common with my cat Alias (I won't tell him he has, he's almost as big as a Lab but doesn't like dogs). He was also dumped quite a few times before he found us, a feat which included climbing two stories from the *outside* with a wounded leg. It seems he was usually kicked out in Spring or Fall, so for a few years he was extra careful with us during changes of season, staying on his best behavior and watching our moves... Then he relaxed and now he's year-round happy.
Last, Thank You, and enjoy the trip!

A cat almost as big as a dog - That's amazing! I am so glad that Alias found you. He sure knew where to go, two stories, wounded leg and all. It makes Ed and Hank and me feel better about Edthedog and Hankthedog eventually being able to completely adjust knowing that Alias relaxed after a few years. So happy to hear that he's year-round happy now! (And don't worry, I can't tell Edthedog or Hankthedog that they have something in common with a cat either ( ... )

P.S. Not that Iris would just let the poor little guy get sick over and over again -- She started doling out his food separately from his buddy and in very small amounts until he gradually slowed down.
