TITLE: Love and Hate
PAIRING: HaeHyuk, KyuMin
SUMMARY: One has taken everything away from the other.
----
"Ah, welcome back."
Donghae bowed slightly at the man who greeted him.
"I am Shin Donghee." The man said, also bowing in return. "You are going to stay here for a while, aren't you?"
"I--I don't have any concrete plans at the moment."
Donghee nodded understandingly. "That's fine. But it would be better if you stayed, alright?"
Donghae nodded and started to leave, planning to go straight to the room he had been assigned and get his thoughts in order. After Hyukjae had left him beside the lake, he stayed there for quite a long time, pondering on the implications of everything Hyukjae had told him and also wondering what else the vampire had kept from him.
He stopped when Donghee spoke.
"By the way, Donghae-ssi, I think it would be best if you did not seek Hyukjae out anymore until you are ready. At the moment, it would be the best for the both of you."
What do you mean until I was ready? Ready to what? Ready to stay forever? Ready to leave? Nevertheless, Donghae nodded. "Okay."
----
He wandered through the spacious house, allowing his feet to take them wherever they wanted. In time, he arrived in front of a door at the end of the hallway. It was slightly ajar and Donghae could hear sounds coming from inside. Curiosity getting the better part of him, he approached as quietly as he could and peeked into the room.
Shock was too tame a word to describe how he was feeling at the scene he saw.
Hyukjae was leaning into the smaller vampire he had seen earlier, the one who had told him where Hyukjae was, and Hyukjae was obviously drinking blood from the other's neck. He watched, transfixed, as Hyukjae sucked hard, his chest going up and down rapidly and his hand wrapped tight around the other vampire's wrist. After much too long, Hyukjae finally removed his mouth but did not pull away. Instead, he rested his head on the other's shoulder, as if the effort of drinking blood drained him of all the energy he had.
"You aren't going to be well just because of my blood, Hyukjae."
"It's going to have to do." The vampire whispered. "Thank you, Sungmin."
"How do you expect to keep up your strength if you keep on being stubborn?"
"Come on," Hyukjae answered, a faint hint of teasing in his voice, "Don't you know who I am? I'm Lee Hyukjae. I won't die just because of this."
"Of course you won't. Vampires do not die." The other vampire---Sungmin?---remained serious. "You will have to explain to Donghae about how this relationship of yours' work."
What relationship? Donghae thought at once.
"What relationship?" Hyukjae asked at the same time and Donghae felt rather than saw the loneliness behind the words. "He will have to accept me in his own pace. Forcing him to do things against his will isn't going to do any good for either of us---"
Donghae almost jumped when someone from behind him said, "Eavesdropping is rude, Donghae-ssi."
He quickly turned around and was met by the vampire who saved him.
"Hyukjae isn't going to be pleased to know that you are listening in to a conversion he doesn't want you to hear. Perhaps it is best for us to take our leave."
Embarrassed at being caught red-handed, Donghae didn't protest and merely followed the other away from the room.
The other led him back to the living room. "My name is Cho Kyuhyun by the way."
----
"Kyuhyun-ssi." Donghae swallowed and looked anywhere but the other vampire. "Who is he?"
Kyuhyun pretended not to have any idea and raised an eyebrow. "Hm?"
"T-That vampire, the one named Sungmin...who is he?"
Kyuhyun fought off the smile threatening to break through. Teasing, he said, "Feeling threatened, Donghae-ssi?"
Donghae immediately opened his mouth to protest, but the denial died on his lips when he saw Kyuhyun's expression. Looking away abruptly, he muttered, "I can't help it. When I saw Hyukjae drinking his blood, I felt...."
"Angry?"
Donghae nodded. "I don't even know what's wrong with me. Less than a day ago, I hated him so much I couldn't even face him calmly and now I'm feeling angry and j-jealous just because some other vampire is with him."
This time, Kyuhyun did smile. Donghae might not have noticed it but he had just said Hyukjae's name with no trace of hatred or malice behind it. It was also the first time that he had more or less accepted that he felt something other than hatred for the vampire.
"Not to worry, Donghae-ssi. I can assure you that Sungmin is not a threat to your, er, relationship with Hyukjae."
Donghae glanced at him skeptically. "How can you be so sure?"
"Because, "Kyuhyun replied, a genuine smile on his face, "Lee Sungmin is mine as much as I am his."
The meaning of what Kyuhyun had told him made Donghae's eyes widen. "You're his m-mate?"
Kyuhyun nodded.
"Then why are you allowing him to give his blood to Hyukjae?!"
"Because you aren't giving him yours, Donghae-ssi," When Donghae remained wide-eyed, Kyuhyun sighed. "Hyukjae will probably kill me for this but I want to tell you clearly what is going on. Will you hear me out?"
There was no hesitation in Donghae's face when he said yes.
And Kyuhyun began talking.
----
He was about to open the door when a slender hand grabbed his wrist.
Jerking slighty, he turned and met the dark gaze of one Lee Sungmin.
"Do you understand what you are going to do?"
Pulling his hand out of the other's grasp and meeting his hard gaze, Lee Donghae nodded. "I do."
"If and when you let him drink your blood, there will be no turning back, Donghae-ssi. We will not allow you to leave again."
"I know."
Sungmin continued to look at him, as if trying to read his innermost thoughts. "If you are doing this because of guilt,or pity,or as a revenge of some sort, it would be best if you didn't do it at all."
At this, Donghae's eyes hardened as well. "I am doing this of my own free will. I understand the effects of what I am about to do and I am telling you that I will accept each one. I have no ulterior motive, Sungmin-ssi, will you trust me enough to give me this chance to prove it to you?"
For a moment, Donghae thought he saw Sungmin's jaw twitch but it happened so fast he wasn't sure if he had just imagined it or not.
Still, he was a little surprised when the other vampire backed away and moved partly into the shadows.
"Remember, Lee Donghae, there will be no turning back."
The shadows shifted and Lee Sungmin was no more.
----
The first thing Donghae noticed was that the room was freezing. The second was that it was sparsely furnished, with only one wide bed and a table set.
As soon as he had entered, a figure on the bed sat up. When the figure caught sight of him, it rushed to the other side of the room where he was farthest from Donghae.
"Get out, Donghae." Lee Hyukjae muttered through gritted teeth. "Get out before I do something we'll both regret."
The day Hyukjae brought you home, you were unconscious and he was shaking. He had been carrying you in his arms and kept muttering, 'What have I done?' After hours of trying to get him to explain, we were finally able to piece together a story based on his incoherent sentences. It turned out that after he found out that you already had someone else, he tried to avoid you. He went from place to place, but never too far from where you were, and no matter where he went, you were there. It looked like you were following him. One night, on the last full moon, he had lost control and bit you.
He wasn't proud of it, Donghae-ssi. He was not proud that he had lost control. But blood lust is something no vampire can ignore. And as you might have noticed, he is weaker. This is because he needs your blood.
He needs your blood as much as you need his.
Donghae ignored Hyukjae's words and started to approach slowly.
"GET OUT!" The words reverberated through the entire room and Donghae almost, almost stopped.
But he didn't. Instead, he continued walking, raising his hand to the side of his neck as he did so. Never breaking eye contact with the one struggling in front of him, he let his fingernails grow until they pierced his neck and blood flowed in a crimson gush.
The smell of blood immediately filled the room and he saw how Hyukjae's breath had hitched and how the other had clenched his fists.
In an almost strangled voice, Hyukjae whispered. "D-Do you understand what you're doing?"
Hyukjae isn't going to force you to do anything you don't want to do, Donghae-ssi. In time, if you give him a chance, perhaps you'll come to care for him as much as he cares for you.
"Yes." Donghae replied, maintaining eye contact.
At this point, Donghae was very much impressed with Hyukjae's sense of control. He knew what hunger meant and just moments before, he had attacked Hyukjae like a rabid dog because of it. And yet, Hyukjae was still able to hold himself back from attacking him.
Smirking inwardly, Donghae repeated what Hyukjae had told him weeks before. "It's no use resisting, Hyukjae, you're hungry and I'm willing."
----
Donghae closed his eyes when he felt Hyukjae's teeth pierce through his skin. The feeling was something he could not describe. It was pain and pleasure, fire and ice. He couldn't move, couldn't breathe but he was sure he didn't want to anyway.
Minutes later, when Hyukjae's grip on his shoulders slackened and he started to fall sidewards, Donghae wrapped his arms around Hyukjae's waist and pulled him close.
To the three pairs of eyes watching them, it looked like Donghae wasn't about to let go anytime soon.

A/N: Another update! Yey! As you might have noticed, the next part is going to be the last part. :D
In case anyone was confused, the paragraph and the line italicized at one point of the story is what Kyuhyun told Donghae. I hope you all understand what happened so far...
A/N: Anyone else still spazzing over SJ-M's PERFECTION? I know I am. :D
