Love and Hate [3/5]
TITLE: Love and Hate
PAIRING: HaeHyuk, KyuMin
SUMMARY: One has taken everything away from the other.

When Lee Sungmin and Cho Kyuhyun got back to the house, a glare was immediately directed to Kyuhyun.
He smiled. "I went to greet your mate...but, you already knew that."
Lee Hyukjae gazed intensely at his friend. "I remember telling you not to interfere."
"And I," Kyuhyun replied easily, "remember that Sungmin told you not to interfere back then too."
This earned a smile from Lee Sungmin. "He's right."
Hyukjae sighed. "What did you tell him?"
Kyuhyun shrugged. "The same thing you told me years ago: that he was stupid."
The other vampire sighed again and shook his head before turning to gaze at the horizon.
"I'm betting he'll be here in two weeks at the most and when he arrives, you better make sure he doesn't go away again."
When Hyukjae showed no indication that he had heard, Kyuhyun took his mate's hand and pulled Sungmin out of the room.

Approximately two weeks later, the door to their house slammed open to reveal Lee Donghae, looking unwell for the most part but with eyes blazing with apparent hunger.
Donghee stood up to intercept him but stopped abruptly when Hyukjae raised a hand, his eyes looking nowhere but at his mate.
In the flash of an eye, Donghae had attached his mouth to Hyukjae's neck and was sucking hungrily. Hyukjae closed his eyes and did nothing to stop him. Seconds later, shadows engulfed them.

Lee Donghae could feel his rationality returning slowly and with it came the realization that he was, once again, sucking blood from Hyukjae. He tried to control himself but couldn't seem to find the strength to pull away. After a few more minutes, he was finally able to detach his mouth from the other's pale neck.
Panting slightly, he wiped his lips with his sleeves and leaned back, settling a little away from Hyukjae. When he glanced at the other, he saw that the puncture marks he had made were closing slowly.
Hyukjae had his eyes closed, his breathing also a little ragged. When he opened his eyes, Donghae immediately turned his gaze away. Without saying anything, Hyukjae stood up while starting to fix his shirt.
When he made to move, Donghae said, "W-Wait..."
The vampire looked at him with unreadable eyes. "You can rest here, Donghae. When you feel calm enough to leave, you may do so."
Hyukjae started to walk but then swayed on his feet. Donghae was immediately at his side.
"Are you alright?"
Hyukjae nodded and smiled wanly. "I'm fine... It was nice... seeing you again, Donghae." He appeared to hesitate a moment before he placed a hand against Donghae's cheek and caressed it lightly.
Before Donghae could comprehend what was happening or what had happened, Hyukjae was gone.

"Ah, coherent enough to greet us now, I see," Kyuhyun drawled as soon as Donghae emerged from the room.
Keeping his face as impassive as possible, Donghae gave a stiff nod and studied the three vampires in front of him. Then, he gave a surreptitious glance around the room.
"If you are looking for Hyukjae, "A vampire smaller in stature than himself said, "He headed towards the woods. I would reckon you'd find him beside the lake."
To everyone's surprise, Donghae merely nodded again and headed towards the forest.
"Do you think he's warming up towards Hyukjae?" Donghee asked as he gazed at the retreating form of their friend's mate.
"Perhaps," Sungmin conceeded, sharp eyes observing Donghae's body language. "He feels no love still. It is only guilt. I believe Hyukjae may have faltered some way or another a while ago, thus this reaction from Donghae."
Kyuhyun scoffed. "Of course he faltered. He had not been feeding at all for the past weeks and suddenly gives his blood to someone as hungry as Donghae. Tsk... Hyukjae may be strong, but he hasn't been taking care of himself as of late."

Donghae found him where he had been told: beside the lake, and Hyukjae had his back turned to his direction. It was a painfully familiar sight.
And after a while, Donghae realized that he had seen that exact scene so many times in his dreams.
"Hungry still?" The weakness present in the older's voice made Donghae feel guiltier than ever.
He approached hesitantly. "No. I just, uhm, just wanted to make sure you were okay...y-you didn't seem so well a while back."
If you keep doing this, Hyukjae thought miserably, I might misunderstand. But still he said, "I told you I was fine."
Donghae continued walking until they were side by side. Neither faced each other.
"You knew I was going to come back, didn't you?"
"It was inevitable. Blood lust is something no vampire can resist or refuse." Hyukjae sighed. "I am not keeping you here, Donghae. You may leave if you so wish."
With that, Hyukjae turned to walk away. He was too hungry and with Donghae so near him, he knew he might be able to control himself any longer. He needed to leave before he did anything which would cause Donghae to hate him more.
It was Donghae's voice which stopped him.
"Why did you choose to turn me only now?" Hyukjae remained silent and after a second or so, Donghae continued. "Why didn't you come to me when I had no one, when I was lonely? If you had come then, I would have probably followed you without any questions. Why did you have to wait until I was happy with someone else before you came and took away everything?"
It was a question which had haunted Donghae during the days after he was saved by Kyuhyun. Now, he waited for Hyukjae's answer with bated breath.
"It was hard." Hyukjae responded, his back still facing Donghae, sadness laced in the timbre of his voice. "It took me a long time to discover who you were and then some more time to find you. By the time I finally did, you were already with him..."
When Donghae remained silent, Hyukjae started moving again, walking briskly towards the direction of the house.
"W-Why did it take you so long to know who I was...?" Donghae called out, unable to stop himself from asking.
At that, Hyukjae finally turned around, a faint smile on his face. "In the dreams I had, you were there but for the longest time, you always had your back turned to me. It was a very long while before I finally saw your face."
