What is it all coming to?

So I have this friend..we'll call her..Jane.

Jane comes over to visit me this evening and in the midst of a casual, basically meaningless conversation she starts to tell me of her 'sorta' boyfriend..'Ed'

She says, we're not really together, but he tells me he loves me all the time. Which prompts me to ask the inevitable.."Do you love him?".

Her answer floored me. Well I tell him I love him too, he just seems like the polite thing to do."

Huh???

This astound me for some reason ( as it should)

I HAVE NEVER, WILL NEVER use the word 'love' in a relationship lightly. We have enough trouble finding that special person in our lives, and keeping a healthy relationship alive than to risk playing head games with a person you have luke warm feelings for.

I just don't get it. Why would you do that?

Are we really that afraid of looking a person in the face and saying "No, I don't love you?" Yes, I realize that will hurt, perhaps for sometime, but eventually, in the long run it would be for the better.

Love, in in truest and often most rare form, is a thing to be held closely & cherished and then, only when you know, beyond a shadow of a doubt that what you are feeling is in fact real, carefully bestowed upon another person.

Not something to be tossed about whenever the moment strikes you.

Ughh..the stupidity of some people today.

I would hope with all my being that I would never fall victim again to someone so careless with another's heart.

Ok, enough venting.

Peace~
