Lunar New Year 2012

Feb 21, 2012 20:18

It is almost embarrassing to be doing a post on Lunar New Year since it's been dusted and gone but I just need to record it for posterity sake. This year we welcomed the dragon year at the Bay and managed get home in time to celebrate it with family as well. We are also blessed to have friends who invited us over to their home for a lovely home-made nasi lemak for reunion. Unconventional yes but we had such a wonderful time :)

Here are some of the highlights of the celebration in pictures.

We were invited to an office party where home-made yusheng was served! And I love the cake with dragon on it! Very cool.

My dear husband loves steamboat and that's what we had for lunch on the eve of LNY.

Our reunion dinner - home-made goodness. Thanks for a wonderful meal, PJ :)

Delicious strawberry short cake from Satura Cakes. Awesome!

Day one of CNY. I decided to whip up something for the 2 of us to enjoy. It was a working day so cooked the chicken soup overnight and had it for breakfast. My family eats mee sua on the first morning of the New Year and this is a tradition that I like to observe. Dishes that I made for lunch and dinner: Stir-fry sea cucumber with crab meat, Steamed prawn with pepper and leek with fish.

On day 7 of LNY, we had our reunion dinner with both sides of the family at one of our favourite restaurants - Liang Kee Teochew Restaurant. They serve the yummiest orh nee. Too busy eating hence no pic.
