Making my way to
St Patrick's Cathedral, a long line of people caught my attention. "Oh, it's a food truck!", I exclaimed happily to myself. Lunch time was approaching so I made a mental note of the location so that I could return after mass. I got back around 2 and the long queue remained and instinctively I know this must be good stuff!
Uncle Gussy's serves up traditional Greek food prepared lovingly by the owners' mom. It is stated that their motto is "to provide quality, quantity and excellent service" and I think they deliver. Despite the long line, the server was attentive and patient. I got myself a rice combination because I couldn't decide so I had a bit of everything. The portion was generous and it was delicious!
I discovered Uncle Gussy's! Located at Park Ave & 51 St.
All this for 5 bucks. In Midtown Manhattan! Fabulous deal and delicious to boot!
I decided that when in Rome do as the Romans do and had my lunch in the open space, which was quite pleasant really when it's not superbly hot and humid. This is where I sat to devour my delightful lunch while people watch and enjoy the gorgeous day. Loved the experience!
Do you love musical and wish that you could get discounted price? In our excitement we actually got full price
tickets in our previous trip. For some who have been diligent with your research I bet you know about
TKTS or you might have chanced upon them at Times Square with impossibly long queue. Well, the tip is if you're willing to travel to
South Street Seaport, the line is usually much shorter and it moves quickly.
It opens at 11 am. I got there around 10.35 am and this was the line. By 11.15 am I was out there with my precious ticket at 50% off. Score! Happy is an understatement because I didn't plan to go for a musical because hubby wasn't free to accompany me. This deal was too good to pass up.
My treat :)
My last fabulous deal is meant for book lovers. Do I see any hands here? Yes? You must absolutely check out the
home to 18 miles of books, where you will find new, used and rare books. In addition to books, there are toys and CDs/DVDs too so it was a lot of fun spending time here. If you're looking to get some books at good bargain, there is a section where books that have been used by reviewers are being sold at 50%. Oh, this book store has been around since 1927 - 84 years of business. I think that speaks for itself.
My new favourite bookstore in NYC.
