Yosemite: Hetch Hetchy and Wapama Falls

Jul 12, 2010 16:02

When the last day rolled by we were disappointed to discover a threatening sky. Undeterred we decided to go to Hetch Hetchy Reservoir when the map informed us that it was relatively near to our lodge. Turns out it was a brilliant idea because personally I enjoyed that hike the most. It is a glacial valley and the scenery there is out of the world beautiful. Compared to the other attractions in Yosemite, this seems to be a hidden gem so we enjoyed a really peaceful albeit challenging hike in terms of the terrain. But our reward was tremendous - we went really close to Wapama Falls and again it felt so incredible. Totally worth the effort I say.

The starting point - O'Shaughnessy Dam and the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir.

Jets of water

Dark clouds. We were caught in the rain briefly. Managed to get back to the car before it poured.

Tueeulala Falls along the way.

Interesting plant

We spotted this guy. Cute.
