The weekend just passed was fairly packed but fun! Since I've always enjoyed taking a walk at the farmers' market we decided to check out
Ferry Plaza Farmers Market on saturday. In order to avoid the crowd and ensure that we get a lot at the parking garage we set off rather early for a weekend. What motivated us further was the promise of good food at the market. Stvn as usual did his homework and found out there is a really yummy place to get roast pork sandwiches. Okay, i learn that the proper name for this sandwich is porchetta sandwich. Regardless, it is SO good that you just have to polish off everything and promise yourself to go vegetarian for the next week. I will let the pic to convince you!
I've included the picture of porchetta sandwich in the collage but to give you a better visual here it it. Hungry yet?
It was a great morning and there were many joggers/runners doing their weekly training (i presume). There is a good selection of stalls selling fresh produce which are mainly organic. We stopped by
a
Blue Bottle Coffee for a cup of latte. Even though we were early, there was a line for the coffee already. We weren't alone in wanting to start our morning with a good cup of coffee.
Beautiful flowers to brighten up our day, the peaches were really sweet, Stvn gave his verdict for the sandwich, the queue at Blue Bottle Coffee,
Roli Roti on the wheel, beautiful art pieces, and interesting structure with me (and my loot).
It's a really interesting place to spend the morning. Across the street from where the market is, there is a special area for vendors to display their arts and crafts. Plenty of unique knick-knacks that beg for buyers. We finally found a nice "I love SF" T-shirt which we need to go back and get because yours truly was a little indecisive then. Hope it's still there! If you like what I've described, come and check it out if you have the chance :)
On Sunday, we woke up early again as we had to catch the beach train at
Roaring Camp Railroads to go to Santa Cruz. The beach trains travel through Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, down the scenic San Lorenzo River Gorge, across a 1909 steel truss bridge, and through an 1875 tunnel before arriving at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
I really like the feel at Roaring Camp. It's spacious and open with huge trees so it makes for a really great place to have a picnic. It's wonderful just walking around breathing in fresh air and be rejuvenated. The train ride itself was comfortable. It's awesome to see Big Trees standing tall. One can't help but appreciate in wonder.
If you're wondering what stvn was doing posing like a superman in the collage, it's because we were at the famous
Mystery Spot, Santa Cruz. Here within the Mystery Spot you will be stunned as your perceptions of the laws of physics and gravity are questioned. Indeed. I didn't really like it because it was rather disorienting when i need to struggle to walk across the room! You will get a better idea after watching the video.

Obviously he had fun!
Even the tree is crooked and it looks like a S.
All in all we had much fun. We took a wrong turn on our way back and it brought us through a long winding route which definitely tested stvn's driving skill. He had his reward at the end of the day though - he got himself a Playstation 3!
