O'ahu has much to offer - for the young, old, active, adrenaline junkie etc... anyone. Whether you're looking for a quiet time in one of the many gorgeous beaches, snorkeling with the friendly fishes in
Hanauma Bay, go surfing or immerse yourself in rich culture at the
Polynesian Cultural Center chances are you should be able to find something that tickle your fancy. I know because i certainly did. I shall recommend some of my favourite activities in this post.
1. We thoroughly enjoyed the
Grand Circle Island tour. It's a fantastic way to get acquainted with the gorgeous island. We were brought to about 17 interesting stops where we got to take snapshots of the breathtaking sights to our hearts content.
Halona "Blowhole" lookout. It's amazing to see the blowhole with mists coming out from the hole.
Makapuu Beach and Rabbit Island.
Banzai pipeline
Byodo-In Temple - a Japanese Temple. It felt really peaceful and tranquil here.
The view from Pali Lookout
2. We rented a car on one of the days and took a nice leisurely drive to the famous
North Shore where there were many amazing beaches. It's a really pleasant drive as traffic was great and the views were even better.
3. Courtesy of my wonderful husband, i got the chance to soar in the sky on a
glider . I had the most awesome view of the shorelines. Even caught a family of whales! Too bad i didn't bring my cam along but I figured it's impossible to put what i've seen into pictures. You can check out the amazing view
here.
My ride.
4. I totally enjoyed my snorkeling experience at Hanauma Bay and mind you I have yet to master the art of swimming. I was fearful initially but I psyched myself up because i didn't want to miss the opportunity. Soon I was out in the water and was rewarded with beautiful fishes which swam along side with me. I had so much fun! I'm really glad that I didn't give in to my fear. It is really the best place to snorkel and it's great for beginners as the water is really calm.
5. I have shared on
taking a hike to Le'ahi. That's a must-do!
6. It was the migration season for the Humpback whales and we decided to try our luck. Actually we were promised by the
tour operator that we would see the whales otherwise we can come back another day for free! And so we did! Unfortunately we didn't manage to get a good photo. Nonetheless it was pretty awesome seeing the large mammals making their journey to the Atlantic.
Next, I'll share on the FOOD! Stay tuned :)
