I am going to keep this short since I am not sure how well my typing will be.
Yesterday morning my step fatther had a stroke. He was coherent on the way to the hospital and for a short time after arrival. What they did not tell my mother and I until almost an hour later was that he had slipped into a coma soon after he got there. The CAT scan came back and showed massive damage to the left side of his brain. They gave us two options. One was surgery to remove the damaged areas but was highly unlikely to be successful. Two was to keep him comfortable until Nature took its course. Mom and I both agreed that he would not want to live the kind of life he would have even if the surgery went well so we took option two.
Brian (my brother) and Lora (aunt, mom's sis) flew in last night from KS about 11. Bill (uncle, dad's brother) and my grandparents drove thru the night from OK City. The rest of my mom's immediate family is driving in today and will get here sometime tonight with one of my uncles flying in from CA tomorrow morning.
Visitation is Tuesday night from 6-8 at the Gallant Funeral Home (aka Hazel Green FH) in Hazel Green. The memorial service is Wed at 11AM at the Hazel Green Methidist Church.
I would like to thank everyone that has sent me emails and called. I am doing as well as can be expected. With all of the family here or soon to be here, things will start to get better for all of us. I may not check my email or LJ again for awhile so if I don't respond to any comments, please understand. Thanks again for all of your thoughts.
