Also, "an extra chilli to this intriguing musical stew" is a terrible, terrible metaphor in an article consisting largely of terrible, terrible writing. One need only look at the first sentence to be able to tell that the article is going to be taxing, and it delivers.
I mean, they misspell Matt's name, for God's sake. They use "rustically" and "rustic" in the same sentence. Okay, we get it! It's very rustic! Whatever that means! And what's with the completely incompetent use of semicolons?
"Eleanor's calming, compelling and authoritative; Patty Griffin pushing passed Patty Smith vocals joins in the havoc raking, old fashioned indie/folk/noire carnival flittingly, to hurry matters along."
What the hell does that even mean?
I would say this is a very positive review of Rehearsing My Choir, but far from being a great review, it's actually a pretty shitty one. At least Pitchfork's didn't make me cringe and/or furrow my brow at the syntax every other sentence.
