Also, as I was paying insufficient attention, who was it who skated immediately after Czech Zorba Dude, dressed up as Edward Scissorhands? That confused my morning brain.

Dear Spanish Dude: JAMES BOND DOES NOT WEAR SPARKLES. Especially NOT with pleather and never around his bullet holes. Oy. However, when you went into Mission Impossible, I was willing to allow it for Tom Cruise.

It felt like NBC's coverage of last night was much improved, because wonder of wonders, they actually showed more than one routine in a row consistently all night. However, among the many skaters they skipped anyway were these apparent gems. I'll have to google for pics of spanish dude's outfit.

I was talking to Mike on the phone when Johnny Weir appeared, and I made him go downstairs and turn on the tv to see that get-up. Scott Hamilton said that he "rocked the tassels", but I'm not sure that's actually true even if Scott said it.

I was still writing my lecture (which I have to go teach now), so I stayed up for the end. Evan Lysacek's routine is worth hunting up.

The Kid wandered in just as they showed Johnny Weir backstage. He stopped dead and goggled for a moment. Then he sat down and marveled at the performances for a while. The first combination he saw got a "Dude! No way!". He has a new appreciation for men's figure skating.
