In Which There is Never Enough Time

How is it almost halfway through 2024?

The music video is still music videoing. Work is still working. I am still me-ing?

I've been playing Baldur's Gate III since it came out, and it is one of the best games in a very long time. It makes me care about the characters and story in a way I haven't experienced since the old Final Fantasy days. It is truly an RPG. My main is a charlatan bard with a heart of gold, and playing him has been a bunch of fun. It is the first game where I have felt free to explore the "bad" choices because I am not the one making the decisions, my character is. It makes the "role play" aspect of RPG central to the game, and so I can play it with a fair amount of distance, similar to being a writer and writing the actions of characters you disagree with. In other games there is too much of me in my decision making and I only make choices I actually would under the given circumstances. With BG3 I make choice based on what the character I have created would do. Some of my games have original characters, other's are based on favorite characters from other media, but I always try to play them as canon as I can, even when they are original.

I have also been playing Stardew Valley, which is wonderfully relaxing and I think has actually been helping my mental health and giving context to task oriented daily stuff. I haven't put much of any time into other projects besides the music video and, you know what? That's okay... I'll get back to them when the music video is done.
