I don't think so!

There is a pattern that I have been wanting to make for this year's Victorian Festival. It will be my first bustle gown. I want to make it as a day gown and have been pondering fabrics for several months. Nothing has really jumped out at me except for one fabric. There is a gorgeous plaid silk taffeta in cream and black (similar to a burberry pattern) that caught my eye. I have been hesitating to buy it because of needing a coordinating fabric. I have never been one for much black on my victorian clothing, but don't you hate it when you have a great fabric but can't find the right shade for the coordinating fabric so the project just stalls? Well last night I had insomnia. What a pain. I have been sleeping so well lately too! Oh well... anyway... so I was pondering costuming projects as I tend to do when I can't sleep and I started thinking about the recent pretties that Kat has done. She does a lot of black and one of her latest creations has a lot of black on black trimmings which was really pretty. So I decided that I would do the underskirt in black on black. It would coordinate really well with the plaid too.

Ok. Great. Then I go to buy it.

FIFTY DOLLARS FOR SHIPPING! Are you kidding me? AND it will take 2 weeks (with the caveat that it could take up to 30 days). No thanks. I could see if I was ordering a bolt... but for less than 10 yards? No. Just no. I wish my other silk supplier stocked plaids or patterns. If I payed $50 for shipping, it would be because they overnighted it.

Back to the drawing board.
