1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
Saw the Atlantic Ocean, ate genuine Memphis barbeque, visited Chicago with Rachel, sold a condo and adopted a pooch named Stella.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
No and no.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No babies! What’s up with the people I know not reproducing? I love babies when they belong to someone else.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully, no not this year.
5. What countries did you visit?
I did not venture outside the great USA, but did go to some new places within the country that I had never been to before.
6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
A balanced thyroid and strong ankles.
7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
June 17th, the day I brought home my pooch.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Being tenacious with my health and finally getting my thyroid under control. And selling that damn condo!
9. What was your biggest failure?
Selling that damn condo! Heh.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Battled a hypo-thyroid disorder for the majority of the year but finally got it under control And then re-sprained my bad ankle in September, had to wear a moon boot for WEEKS and have not been in a pair of heels since!
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, even if I haven’t been able to wear them yet.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Christina came for a visit in July and we did nothing but celebrate for 10 days.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
There is some appalling and depressing decisions being made by those around me, but it is not something I can talk about on the internet.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Medical bills and botox. Holy fuckballs when did I get so old?
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I get really excited every day when I get to go home and see my pooch. And she is EVEN MORE EXCITED to see me.
16. What song will always remind you of 2011?
Paradise, by ColdPlay. Because I spent the majority of the year asleep.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder?
About the same, but that’s good because last year was a relatively happy year.
ii. thinner or fatter?
Fatter due to my thyroid, but I feel good and am learning to love this power ass of mine.
iii. richer or poorer?
Poorer. Student loans have added heftily to my outgo while my income has not changed. Unfortunately my spending habits haven’t changed either. There is definitely something wrong with this equation.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Being awake.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Sleep.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent Christmas in the QC with my fam, as usual. The baby welcomed us with “Mry Shrishmas!” and was totally adorable.
21. Did you fall in love in 2011?
Still dating manfriend! Can you believe that shit? And we’re going to Vegas together for NYE!
22. How many one-night stands?
None.
23. What was your favorite TV program?
I am obsessed Revenge and want to develop a red sharpie fetish like Emily.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Make love, not war.
25. What was the best book you read?
11/22/63 by Stephen King, of all authors.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I went to the Britney Spears concert and discovered that she is a Britney-Bot. The show was so scripted and robotic it didn’t even feel real. Plus, she is still looking for some chick named Amy. What’s up with THAT?
27. What did you want and get?
Stella, my bella!
28. What did you want and not get?
A new job.
29. What was your favorite film of this year?
Manfriend and I cannot agree on a movie to save our lives, so I have seen very few this year. I’m pretty excited to see Young Adult and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Manfriend and I stayed the night at my favorite Scottsdale resort, the Montelucia, and I turned 33 (JESUS FUCKING CHRIST) years old.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
International travel.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
Trying not to fall down. Christina and I want to start a magazine for women who love high heels but fall down a lot. We will call it “Timber.”
33. What kept you sane?
Medication and unlimited texting.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Following Joan Rivers on Twitter has made my life.
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
I am still easily riled up about marriage equality; because I would like the government to stay OUT of our bedrooms (and pockets, but that’s a different conversation).
36. Who did you miss?
“Those who are dead are not dead they’re just living in my head” - forever missing my Mom and my Nibby.
37. Who was the best new person you met?
Was able to turn some acquaintances at the animal shelter into actual friendships, which is cool.
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011:
If your health is gone, EVERYTHING is gone. I give thanks to the Universe for the strength of my body, because it helps to feed the strength of my soul.
