Marie Antoinette
Sophia Coppola is a genius as far as I'm concerned and this movie doesn't disappoint. What really amazes me about her talent is the way she can have a non-ending in every single one of her movies. Even when the ultimate outcome of Marie Antoinette's story is a beheading for Pete's sake. I mean, if you went to school under a cabbage leaf and never took any sort of history you'd leave that movie not knowing what happens. It's that serious. Anyway, this was a very rock and roll Marie Antoinette and Sommer and were having it. Kristen Dunst did better than I expected, her American accent notwithstanding.
The Prestige
Christian Bale is still so yummy I can hardly stand it. I mean, 8th grade was nearly 15 years ago which means Newsies is like 16 or 17 years old and he STILL makes my mouth water. That's some serious staying power. The movie? Oh, it's good. Nolan likes to play with time so it takes about 30 or 40 minutes to understand how he's unfolding the plot but once you get that figured out everything makes sense. Pay attention at the end though. The twist almost went right over my head. If not for my friend Jenny, it would have. I sort of want to see it again, but I'll wait for it on HBO.
Otherwise my weekend was pretty uneventful. I fell down inside Gardunio's BEFORE drinking a margarita and I yelled at the waiter who tried to help me up, "DON'T TOUCH ME!" after I spent 40 minutes driving around the parking lot trying to find a space because VALET WAS FULL. I guess that was sort of eventful. So was throwing my phone on the table and saying, "I just FELL THE FUCK down!" which made the Mormon mother standing next to me look at me with disgust. That was also pretty eventful, I guess. But seriously, my weekend wasn't exciting. ;-) Haha.
