Just got back from the Hives show.
I don't reckon it was worth the admission but they did break me out of my jaded state a few times. They could have played a better list too. They were excellent live but I dunno about "the best live band in the world" tag. I suppose they're one of the better bands I've seen. The cohesiveness and musicianship is pretty darn good. I'm not a fan of all the posing though some of it was amusing. I love the guitarist dude that has the cool poses and faces and the bit where they stopped still for a minute or so was awesome.
The Spazzys bored be senseless and it might have been worth it if there was another support that was good. It's bullshit having to pay more than $40 for one good international band.
I got some pretty good pics from what i can tell on my phone screen but fucked if I know how I'll ever get them off there unless I email every one to myself and I haven't even got that figured out.
There was one moment of panic when my contact fell out of my eye and I was surprised at myself for thinking not to worry about it, just tell my eye doctor it broke and get another on warranty but then I thought fuck that and looked for it with my lighter. i found it easily which pumped me up. Luckily the crowd wasn't going mental at the time! Actually the crowd never went mental. it was rather timid.
The crowd was mostly mainstream people. Quite a few oldies. Not really any worse than a crowd full of trendy punk fags but at least the fags might know some decent bands. I kept staring at this one chick the crowd struggled to get surfing a couple of times haha. She was alright looking and there were a few others that were cute but the best ones seemed to be with guys. Le Tigre should be much better in hot bitch terms. I doubt I'll go to Rise Against tomorrow seeing as though I'd have to hope to get a ticket and I'll be very tired after working on 6 or less hours. I'm not too worried. Seeing bands doesn't titlllate me like it used to. I don't want to spend money on anything either. I should become a crusty and just go to free shows or live in the subtropical rainforest near Ballina. Ahh yes...
Listening to Cursive on the way home was perfect. I'm so glad I traded for those two CDs :)
