Rare random thought for a rare random entry
Isn't one meant to become less self conscious about one's glasses as the get older?
I had absolutely no trouble adjusting to wearing glasses as a kid. I couldn't see without them, therefore I needed them. Prior to wearing them, this was a common conversation whilst driving:
Mum: Look at that cow.
Me: Oh yeah...where?
I would always have a comeback for a kid who even thought of mocking me for wearing them. My favourite is from kindergarten.
Sian: You do know Penny is the only one around here allowed to wear glasses don't you?
Me: Well excuse me, but I need these in order to see!
Why is it now that (you may as well say) I'm 22 that I'm thinking, 'why me? Why do I have to wear these things all the damn time? Why am I the 'lucky' one?'
