Disclaimer: For the first time, I can say that EVERYTHING about this one is MINE, ALL MINE. Mwahaha!!

It's a lovely day, outside, even if the mood is somber. The sun is shining and there is a slight breeze, keeping those in attendance comfortable in their discomfort. The family sits up front, though none of them are really listening to the man who is speaking.

The smallest boy is fidgeting in his seat, not very skilled in sitting still. Next to him, his foster mother stares at the ground, trying to will herself not to think about her husband, who is the one being buried. The boy's two older brothers are better at sitting still, though one is being distracted by a fourth foster brother. The other is leaning against her other side, staring at the man who is speaking.

The loss wasn't unexpected; they'd known about his illness for almost a year. But, having the time to plan for this moment didn't make it any easier. She doesn't have time to mourn, not with the boys to care for.

Somehow, they will get through this.

Together.
