"So school is out next week," Rick said, as he pressed a kiss to his wife's neck. He'd caught her just as she was coming out of the bathroom, following a shower, so Mel was dressed only in a towel. Not that he was complaining.

"Mmhmm," Mel replied, trying to remember what she had been thinking before Rick pulled her into his arms.

"And.." he continued, still kissing her neck, "I was thinking..." He pulled away for a moment and switched to the other side of her neck, which got another hum out of Mel. "Maybe I would.. go back to.. the station.. for the.. summer."

"'s a good idea," she breathed, reaching for his arm to steady herself. God, that man could take her breath away. With a smirk, Rick started pulling her toward the bed. "Only one problem," Mel added, once Rick had her on the bed and was leaning over her.

As if on cue, the unmistakable sound of a crying infant echoed from the hallway.

"If you go to the station.." she started, "and I go back to work..." Daniel cried again, and Mel winced. For the first time in months, she was actually enjoying the affection from Rick. But, in this case, the baby took priority. "Rick..."

"Hmm?" he mumbled.

Mel pushed on Rick's shoulders. "This is what got us into this in the first place." Rick grumbled and pushed himself up. Mel smiled as she slipped out from under him and moved to readjust the towel as she ran for Daniel's room.

Rick followed after her, smiling as he watched Mel lifting the tiny boy out of the crib.

"You're warm," she said in a childlike voice, pressing a kiss to Daniel's temple. "Why are you so warm, huh? You didn't want to be the only one not gettin' some lovin?" She rocked side to side, letting Daniel calm himself at the contact, and she turned to face Rick. "Rick, you don't need my permission to go back to the station. I only have to go in a few times a week, and he can come with me."

Rick made a face and moved over to place his hand on his son’s head. "It's just," he sighed. "Three whole months without pay," he shrugged. Leaning down, Rick kissed Daniel's cheek and nodded for Mel to hand him over.

"You want to go to Daddy?" she asked Daniel. "You do?" She helped transfer the ten-week old and placed her hand over Rick's. The last two months had been difficult for him, and Mel just wanted Rick to be happy.

"What do you say, kiddo? You want to come with me to the station?" Mel laughed and shook her head. "Yes, Mommy, Let me go to the station," he continued, in a high-pitched voice, as he waved Daniel’s hand. "I want to slide down the pole."

"Not until you're thirty," she deadpanned, reaching up to tweak Rick's nose.
