Harry Potter
Just finished reading the latest HP book. The Half Blood Prince. I think it took me about 15 to 20 hours.
My mood at the moment is not the best.
....
... Oh fuck.
I'm crying. I've cried for the last 40 minutes. It's very hard not to cry after reading the last 50 pages in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Actually, anyone NOT crying in the end of that book has got a serious problem.
Let me confirm some things:
- Dumbledore is dead. This is the main reason I am crying.
- Snape IS a bad guy after all. He fooled everyone. Oh, and he was the one who killed Dumbledore. Even if I was a fan of Snape, I am so no longer. Snape is to rot in hell.
- Snape is the Half Blood Prince. And I thought it was Voldemort. Obviously not. Anyway, Snape is a halfblood, not a pureblood, like he pretends to be. His mother was a witch and his father a muggle, just like in Voldemort's case.
- This is the first book in which I have felt pity for Draco Malfoy and thought Harry being an idiot, at the same time. This was only for a short while, though, since my mind changed after reading some things later in the book.
- I am apparently a bigger fan of Dumbledore than I thought. He is a great man, FInally I understand why.
- In this book, one gets to know more about Tom Riddle's/Voldemort's past. This is highly interesting and very well-written things. One gets to know several things about Riddle before he became Voldemort, and how he was as a kid.
- Snape did finally get to be a teacher in Defence Against The Dark Arts. The new Potions teacher is a somewhat weird but nice dude called Horace Slughorn, an old pal of Dumbledore's.
- Harry gets to snog Ginny. That is nice, I suppose.
- Bill gets bitten by a werewolf, though he does not become a werewolf, because this werewolf was not actually transformed when he bit Bill, since there wasn't full moon, so Bill just got some serious injuries and survived.
- Bill is marrying Fleur Delacour.
- Tonks is in love with Lupin, who thinks he is too old for her and a lot of other things, but finally accepts his/her feelings when he discovers that Fleur keeps loving Bill when he's got severly bitten by werewolf. My blessings to Lupin and Tonks.
- Draco Malfoy is cooperating with the Death Eaters. Surprise, surprise. I dislike him very much now.
- Voldemort's soul is cut up in seven pieces. One piece is in his body, the others are spread in different objects around the world. That's why he can't die; as long as one piece survives (even if you "kill" Voldemort himself and the piece of his soul that is within him) he will keep on living and terrorizing the world. Therefore, Harry's mission is to collect these pieces and destroy them before attempting to kill Voldemort himself.
And:
- ... Fanfiction will be very, very hard to write after this. Believe me.
This is one of the best HP books written. Maybe even the best one. (Though The Prisoner of Azkaban is very dear to me.)
Read it, for fuck's sake. At least if you need a good cry. Dammit.
