So, we got Mel off on her plane early this morning at a brisk jog, since we woke up late and had to scramble. She arrived safe and sound and has seen her new niece.
I, on the other hand, have been moving all day. The movers were ok, not as fast as I'd hoped, but still, they did so much that I didn't have to do and couldn't do alone. So, money well spent! They were nice and polite. Only one real casualty, a mirror, that snapped it's wood base, so it'll have to be completely replaced. No worries, it was the only thing they broke.
I did a great deal of unpacking and moving as well. I'm probably about 20 percent unpacked. However, the bed is set up, the tv is in place, the dining room table is on coasters and the dining room chairs on felt pads. I also managed to fix a toilet and figure out why the ice maker doesn't work. I may also be able to fix the dishwasher....we will see. I shopped for things we needed as well. I had a scare for a moment when I smelled something hot. The overhead light in the bedroom was overheating. I turned it off and waited for it to cool down and took the cover off. I regret that. Something gross dripped on me and smelled like cat pee. I still have no idea what it was. I cleaned up the fixture and put in some CFL's that didn't touch the center pole of the fixture, which the old style bulbs did. So far, no overheating that I can smell. The shade for it may be down for the count though, whatever that sticky shit is is on it.
S & S came up and brought me some kick ass jambalaya and kept me company for a while. They love the house. :) The view is incredible.
Holy schmoly. I don't know what the hell I just heard but it was freaky. Animal of some sort. Really hoping it was an elk...but kinda doubting it. Guns are good teddy bears.
