These sorts of insanity

My day was trying.  The best thing about it is that it's over and that it leads directly tomorrow which is happy because it's Friday.  It's probably enough to say that the day in general got me in the mood to listen to Murder Ballads.

Val had some interesting news when I called her on her cell to remind her to pick up cat food on the way home.  Apparently a work mate of hers was arrested for having kiddy-porn on his home computer.  Not some random guy that just started a while back either.  She said the guy's been there as long or longer than she has, and she's been there for 10 years.  Fucked.

Tomorrow is Val's birthday.  Dinner is planned, but that's about it so far.  Saturday, we'll trek down to the Ontario Science Center to see the Body Worlds 2 display.  Something odd about that.  It never crossed my mind that the display might be creepy or morbid, but after talking about it to a handful of people, it seems as though I'm the odd one out on that and that most folks find it at least a little macabre.  Maybe once I'm actually in the presence of the dead, plastified corpses I might feel differently.

I finished watching the Clone Wars cartoons on the bus this morning.  I did watch the majority of the episodes way back when they were still fresh and well before the 3rd movie came out, but somewhere along the line I managed to miss episodes 21 to 25.  It's a shame too, because those are some of the best episodes in what has to be, hands down, the best piece of entertainment with the "Star Wars" name attached to it to come out since the 80s.  Seriosuly.  I love it that much.  It makes me want to play with my light saber again.

Speaking of Star Wars, I snagged the Empire at War demo from Gamespot and will install it and try it right after this post.  Here's hoping for as little suckitude as possible.

I also find it noteworthy (relative to some of the other crap that I feel justifies recording in this journal) that I finally managed to win my first online match in DOA4 last night.  It was by the skin of my teeth (eeew!  skin on teeth?!) but it was a win nonetheless.  With the points I earned as a result, I purchased an unlock for an even slutier costume for my favorite character, Christie.  Once I figure out how to post screens, I will.
