This beard is already pissing me off.
So, a notable music lover, I often find myself with the desire to share what it is I'm listening to with the public at large. This was probably what spurred my various forays into the DJ profession (with variable amounts of success). So, when MSN Messenger 7 came out, I was somewhat pleased to see that the fucktards over at Microsoft had implemented a "what I'm listening to" function which basically changes the dynamic user message to the artist and title of whatever it is you are currently listening to. That way, everyone on your MSN f-list can be spammed with even more useless information than normal. The only problem is, it's "only compatible with Media Player". Who the fuck uses Media Player to listen to MP3s (other than my mom, bless her heart, who doesn't know any better)? That's right. No one. Fortunately, the internet is full of all sorts of weird fuckers who have lots and lots of extra time on their hands (just like me!) and, as such, there is almost always a cure to something as meaningless as this. Hence,
toaster, a plug-in for Winamp that overcomes Microsoft's lame attempts to get you to use Media Player and even manages to pack in a wee bit more functionality (none of which I use). You could also try
this plug-in which only does the Messenger update.
I consumed the first two episodes of Lost already this afternoon. I can see why it's turned into TV crack. They use the cliffhanger formula very well. And the whole mystery behind the whole thing really keeps you wondering. Time will tell if it's able to keep me enthralled.
