(no subject)
Well, the weather finally stopped being screwy and i finally got the energy to repot the bowl of cacti, including the injured fishhook cactus and its larger companion. Unfortunately I seem to have left it too long - I figured the injured one was already dead, but the larger one started to lean way over atop the redheaded cactus, and at first I thought it was looking for more light from my lamp, but...I'll let the pictures explain.
I set the bowl on its side to start carefully loosening the dirt, and the smaller cactus split wide open at the base. The larger one followed suit soon after, revealing a nasty case of rot.

And here's the little dead thing that was already there when I got the bowl from a coworker:
The other two cacti seem to be okay, the redhead and the saguaro...
What they all looked like just last year. Man, I'm really disappointed, the big ones were pretty and even flowered for me then...
And just for fun and to cheer me up, here's my baby tomato plant. Ain't he cute?!
