So I went to the dentist today, and after the hygienist flossed my teeth and scraped my gums and teeth (and she caught the scrapey-thing IN my gums and pulled some off), she's like,
"Hmm. There seems to be a little inflammation and bleeding here. You should keep an eye on that. It could be gingivitis."
I hear that the best way to avoid bleeding gums is to not scrape metal tools on them and pull of skin, but I could be mistaken. Who knows? :D
