My brother-in-law was tee-boned by another vehicle (don't know what kind yet) and went flying through the air 40 feet after the initial impact. Did I mention that he was on a motorcycle? Those of you who read this probably remember the last motorcycle versus car accident I helped at and can likely imagine my first thoughts. All I could think of was ( Read more... )

If only that last guy was this lucky.

I'm glad your brother-in-law is ok. Kudos to him for wearing the appropriate gear. Is that the law where he lives? I think that's the biggest problem with motorcycle fatalities, lax helmet laws in some states.

I'm not certain about state law where they live, but he works on a military base and the ARMY says that if they ever, ever, EVUH catch him on that bike without all the required gear (including the vest) then they will take action against him.

Besides, my sister used to be an EMT and she told him that if SHE ever caught him without the gear that the motorcycle would be sacrificed to the Sledgehammer God, no questions asked. ;)

Glad your BIL is OK. And I have to say.....love the idea of your reading material for the evening. A little of the Bible, a little fanliterature....

You truly are a well-rounded woman. ;)

*grin* Thanks! I do try. When I was young and ambitious I used to throw in a little World Civ in there and/or Atomic Physics and cold fusion theory. I don't have the time to save the world these days, though. :)

I'm so glad he's a smart cookie and was wearing all of the proper gear. So often I used to run into the mentality of "Oh, a helmet isn't cool!" when I worked on a Harley mag. Well, neither is having your brains spilled all over the pavement. Still, that must have been pretty scary for everyone involved, so thank God he's OK!

I know!!! I'm very grateful that the bike club my parents are involved in encourages the helmets.
