So last night I went and saw Andre Rieu, and the complimentary tickets E picked up on her way out the night before worked fine, so we got sweet seats on the front in level two. Although for this concert they were a lot less sweet than they would be for AFL, but they were still pretty good.

I could now be all elitist and say "Well, it wasn't up to the quality of Symphony Orchestra X" or I could just say most of it was fun, relaxed and there was some superawesome iceskating. It would be extremely expensive to get a seat in one of the places where you could appreciate the set as it was, rather than largely relying on the video screens - and I don't know enough about dancing anyway to tell the difference - but the ice stuff was spiffy, the horse&carriage, marching band, ice skaters, fountains and dancers were impressive, and it was a bit of fun.

Some of it was actually quite impressively beautiful - whoever ti was doing "Wishing you were somehow here again" (Lloyd Webber) was very good, as was the angel preceding her. It was nice to see a bunch of older people get up and waltz to the Blue Danube (on strong encouragement from Rieu).

Was a good night out, if completely unplanned and surprising :)
