Mental Breakdown

Jul 31, 2005 17:02

So yesterday some customer was intent on belittling me. He wouldn't leave me alone. He just kept on yelling at me. I didn't respond well. The second he finally left (to go to the other side of the store and yell at the other cashier and manager) I broke down and started crying. I ran to the break room where I proceeded to cry my eyes out and ( Read more... )

BAD! No regressing to bad habits!

I understand about the job. I get yelled at by my boss everyday. For stupid things I didn't even do wrong. Assholes.

And people wonder why people go on shooting rampages at their jobs. It's scary. I'm starting to understand post office people.

Its been awhile since I checked in with you sweetie and I'm sorry to hear you're not doing okay. I definitely support you quiting a job thats causing you to inflict harm on yourself because of stress. I could suggest a million different ways to deal with your stress, but having had the same habit I know its not that simple... Just keep your chin up! Rainy days are always followed by the sunny days. feel free to email me or IM me whenever your online :) I'm here for ya.

Hey my twin,

I am sorry you are having such a bad time -_-.

I wish you would hurt yourself no matter how much mental pain your in...

I'm around if you want to talk. I'll answer my phone now... I am sorry I missed you on my Birthday. I thought you were a client calling, since I have 2 clients who have the same area code.

-_- I get belittled a lot in my work too, as you already know. Things will get better eventually, just don't let yourself get to down spirited.

Love ya!

I figured it was a typo. I did get a laugh out of it though. I'm feeling better now, but I do need to get a new job. It was an accumulation of constant belittlement over time. I'm having a girls night out on Wednesday, That's always a cure all for stressful times.

You've got to tune the people out, look at the space between their eyes (so it looks like you are looking at them). Just tune them out and focus on how stupid they are. It is generally agreed upon that the first person to loose their temper looses the argument, remember that they already lost and its pretty funny how they act when they are mad.

I would hope that the managers there understand how bad the customers can get, I'll bet you can get away with being a little harsh back. In fact, ask your managers how they handle difficult people, use their suggestions if they have good ones, you can't get in trouble for doing what they do.

Also, you are a girl, you could say that the person was making unwanted sexual threats to you.

Some stuff I've learned to say:
  • "I'm sorry, you'll have to talk to my manager"
  • "This is a professional environment, if you can't speak to me in a professional manner, you will have to leave" - Then make them leave if they don't stop.
  • "What do you want me to do?"
  • "I don't know what to tell you" - Repeat this ( ... )
