This is the record for the longest time without an update to my awesome LJ.

Sr. District audition was Saturday. Our bus driver almost got us completely lost and she kept going on and on about lunch for god knows why.

Strings were warming up in the gym. I always forget how competitive Districts is. I always get so intimidated... there were kids playing the piece twice as fast as I was and it sounded so much better. Later I found out that 200 kids auditioned for violin. Auditions were running around half an hour behind. We were called around 1:45. I played A flat for the judge and she gave me D. The sightreading wasn't too bad (it was actually pretty easy) but I still fucked it up because that's how these things go. It's sightreading. The philosophy is that you're supposed to make mistakes.

The judge in the second room had me play the beginning, the end of the second page, and half of the fourth page. I was nervous, but I was so glad that it didn't interfere with my performance. I was so nervous that morning I had to run a mile before the audition to get it out of my system. Judges are extremely anol though- she started writing stuff down the instant i started playing. i was like- wtf. i haven't done anything yet. But anyhoo, I came out of the audition with a good feeling. only made a couple of mistakes.
the results: violin 1, chair 4A- all-state rec. sweet.

COLLEGE NEWS FLASH! BLING BLING!
I had my interview with Muhlenberg College about a month ago. It was awesome. The interviewer loved me. She thought it was so awesome that I played violin. It was a really good interview... we talked about ipods, coffee, classical radio stations in the boston area. I hope to get a lot of money from the college.
The only thing i don't like about muhlenberg is that I feel it might be a bit too small for me. Their chamber orchestra is tiny, i dunno... should violin be my priority in college? it's been an incredible outlet for opportunity throughout high school...
Lehigh might suit me better. It's a larger university, with small classes... but I don't know if I could get a better education there than at Muhlenberg. I would probably get less money at Lehigh too... hrm, decisions, decisions.

BUT: the good thing is, I'm all done with those freakin college essays. All i have to do now is suck up to Johns Hopkins and the rest of my schools by harassing them with phone calls telling them how much I'm in love with their school.
