george strait is a player!!
back in 1987 i remember very well sitting in the back seat of my family's 1985 buick skylark hearing "all my ex's live in texas". mom was driving and very rarley do you catch my mother listening to country music. but now listening to this song almost 20 years later, george is still the shit and if he really did leave texas for tennessee just because he had women to run from, i want to learn his moves for he is master.
i've had 3 copies of the "strait out of the box" box set. my first one i bought the day my friends jae and lana got married out of being depressed cause they were happy and i wasn't and months later was sold to pay rent. my second copy i bought at best buy while it was on sale and was then sold to pay rent. my 3rd copy was from my exgirlfriend but after we broke up, i gave it away cause it was too painful to keep it around. i'd like to have that box set again. and i swear i won't sell it.
christmas 1984 i got a panasonic tape recorder and a copy of george's first album "strait country" . i didn't know who george strait was. but then again i was only 4 years old. but that tape saw better days. i played it and played and literally wore the son of a bitch out. i now own a cd copy of it and just like his box set, is my 3rd copy on cd. the first...well it all went to rent. but the significance of his first album was that it influenced me musically. in fact, that album is probably one of my most favorite albums ever.
i recently saw george inducted into the country music hall of fame. i was so proud of him. if he only knew what he's done for me musically.
