It's 2007! It seems so wierd. This last semester of school has gone by in such a flash I can't even fully comprehend it. And yet being away from school for so long has made it sort of like a foggy, distant memory. Reality will hit again, I'm sure, when I have 9am class on Wednesday morning. Not exactly looking forward to that....
I got my wisdom teeth pulled on Thursday. Having a sore, puffy, swollen face was not exactly the way I wanted to spend my last week at home, or the way I wanted to return to school, for that matter. I was actually really ready to go back, but now home is starting to look pretty good. For some reason it's not appealing to travel halfway across the country when you're not feeling 100% great. It's just sort of nice to be at home and have mom take care of you, wouldn't you say?
On the other hand, I do have a lot of exciting things to look forward to this semester. Some highlights include:
*being in the musical "Chicago"
*going through sorority recruitment
*candlelight mass and candlelight choir, which I absolutely LOVE
*meeting a new roommate (this could be good or bad. I'm crossing my fingers that it will be good)
*my business law class that sounds really interesting, and could potentially lead into my newest idea for a potential major: the business management/pre-law track. I'm thinking of following this up with grad school. Possibly a law degree/MBA combination. Do you think that sounds too ambitious? I will need to keep pondering...
*continue to enjoy friends, meeting new people, and just plain living the amazing journey that is the college life. Okay, I guess I really am ready to go back to school.
Now for some New Years Resolutions:
1. Learn how to cook. I really only know how to bake, and seeing how next school year I will be living in an apartment with a full kitchen, actually knowing HOW to cook will come in handy.
2. Read more books. I mean outside of school, books for fun. I really like reading, and I always make a stack on my nightstand of books I want to read when I'm home for break. But then I get lazy and only get through one or two of them. I just feel like being well read is a good attribute that I need to work on more.
3. Work out more. I actually see this one coming true this year because of the fact that one of my best friends is on the soccer team, and I had a lot of fun last semester working out with him. Getting to hang out with a hot guy for an hour is definitely good motivation to hit the gym more often.
4. Be more outgoing. I know I've come a long way from the shy person I was freshman year of high school, but I can still definitely improve in this area.
5. Not drink until I'm 21. It's pretty much a year away from now. And if I've made it this far, I can make it one more year, don't you think?
6. Not check facebook a million times a day like an obsessed psycho person. I would like to say that I will limit my facebook use to once a day, but I really think that is asking too much. For now, I'm just going to say I'll try and limit it. Honestly, I will try.
7. Call my high school friends more often. I feel so lucky to have them in my life, and I want to make sure I keep in touch with them. I love my new friends at school, but really no one can replace my Tucson girls!
8. Finish typing up my grandma's recipe book that my aunts have been asking me to do. I was proud that I got about 50 pages done over the break, but it was just too much to try and accomplish in 3 weeks. But by this time next year I will have it finished, I do declare!
Okay, I was going to try and have 10 resolutions, but it seems I've run out of ideas. But I guess 8 is a nice even number, right? Well, I'm off to ice my face now. I serioulsy hope this swelling goes down at least a little bit before school starts. I really don't want to go through sorority recruitment looking like a ridiculous charicature of Jay Leno.
