Bloody pcs! That always happens, especially after writing some very well thought comments...
Yehi, I love Tim Burton's films as well, but I don't understand, is Pirates of the Caribbean also by Tim? Sorry but I tend not to go to the cinema anymore since back to Italy, no idea what's up there, I just keep ears open for Lord of the rings and Star Wars, these days, so I can promptly go up to London to watch them!
Wow! You like Terry Gilliam's films AS WELL! I don't think I have seen the one you name yet though... I just bought recently BRAZIL at the flie market in Milan very cheap, guess what, it was in English so they did not have anyone buying, otherwise it would have costed loads!! BARGAIN!! I'll see if I can get Lost in LaMancha on DVD over here. Your daughter will grow up with a great cinema culture!
Sorry for the confusion, perhaps that was misleading.. the director was Gore Verbinski [apparently the creator of the Budweiser frogs?], ..and perhaps I wished it was Tim Burton, I honestly did wish that Danny Elfman had done the music! :-)
The film itself is a documentary, of a film the Gilliam tried to complete but was unable to complete, however, it appears that he's trying to revive it still!
BRAZIL.. *smile*
re - my daughter and great cinema culture: (well, it's not entirely intentional, half selfishly as I want to watch films I like!) ;-)
Fortunately for me, so far she enjoys Hal Hartley, Katharine Hepburn/Carey Grant, Tim Burton, Fawlty Towers (she's yet to see the Monty Python films), but we have several days left of this vacation to fit them all in! :-)
Was "Pirates.." any good then? Friends here found quite "amusingly intriguing" the fact that Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom play the part of pirates, not exactly the most manly pirates character you can think of...but anyway, yes, interesting.
Hey, no way, you watch FawltyTowers! That's so British! Is it very popular in US as well?!
I insist anyway, good education for your daughter! She might end up watching American Pie in a few years and think Britney Spears is music....but one day she'll remember and thanks her dad!
I really enjoyed Pirates, but I'm not 100% sure how much of that was due to being with my daughter, AND the fact that I love effeminate men/actors, (like Depp in this film), and I also love Geoffrey Rush (see my other post recently about him).. yes, I liked it, but then art/entertainment is subjective, eh
