if i don't get up in the morning my mom leaves me at the house.  doesn't come in and say "i'm leaving," just leaves.  i suppose that's okay.  it's not her responsibility to make sure i'm at school.

i still wish she would.

frustration, school, mom

I agree that she is old enough to get up on her own, but it is still her mother's responsibility to get her high school aged child to school. As far as I'm concerned, until a kid graduates high school they are still their parent's responsibility. Granted, if Morgan is having THAT hard of a time waking up she needs a swift kick in the ass, but that doesn't make it okay for her mom to just up and leave her kid without a way to her classes.

Obviously, she relies on her mother's transportation to get to school that is 8 miles away, so it is unacceptable to me that a parent would just leave their kid without a way to get there. Sure, if the school was a block away then that would be different, but how is it encouraging your child to go to school when you just up and leave, not say anything (more than once), and expect any kid to get up and walk 8 miles? That's just giving a free ride.

I definitely respect that Morgan is old enough to get herself up and running at 17 (I was in the 3rd grade when I had to rely on myself to get ready for school), but I don't think it's all her fault.
